Fisher player acquisition pattern clear...
Steve Smith and Tom Malone already signed. Rams seriously looked at Chilo Rachal before passing on him. If the offseason is any indication, Coach Fisher will could very well be looking to draft someone from USC, especially if he trades down. I know we have other much more pressing needs, including at WR and o-line, but I think about how dominant our D-line would be were Nick Perry drafted. I don't think it'd be a stretch to think our young d-line, with the likes of Chris Long and Robert Quinn, could be somewhere on par with the Giant d-line....2 time Super Bowl winning d-line, that is. Just food for thought...
Re: Fisher player acquisition pattern clear...
With all due respect, two barely-relevant signings don't indicate a trend in my opinion.
We're not talking Scott Linehan and an incalculable number of useless Tight Ends here, folks.
Welcome to the boards!
Re: Fisher player acquisition pattern clear...
And this is why the actual Jeff Fisher was listed WAYYYY down on my coaching "draft board" and specifically behind a cloned Jeff Fisher, we'll use the British spelling, Geoff, who went to UCLA!

I wouldn't put too much into it. In 16 NFL drafts, he has selected 2 USC players. Doesn't look like he narrows his war room scope to USC players.
Re: Fisher player acquisition pattern clear...
I don't think Fisher is going after USC players... Tom Malone signed a one year deal he is making $390k in 2012. The pattern I see the Rams making is reallocating it's payroll. This team can't afford to have one of the highest paid punters, with some many needs. After we draft possibly two WR in the draft Smith may not get out of camp.
