Which of the following prospects are acceptable choices for Pick #14?

This is a multi-choice poll. Vote for as many players on the list who you consider to be acceptable as the Rams' first round (#14) pick in the draft.

Note: I've excluded players like A.J. Green, Patrick Peterson, Marcell Darius (players who have little or no chance of dropping to #14) and players at positions where the Rams clearly won't spend their first pick (i.e. QB, OT).

I voted for Julio Jones, Aldon Smith, Robert Quinn, DaQuan Bowers, Cameron Jordan and Corey Liuget. Any of these guys instantly make our team better. I'd be ecstatic with any of these guys.

I voted for Jones, Jordan, Smith, Liuget, Kerrigan, Bowers, and Quinn.

I'm not convinced Ingram is the best value, nor do I think this team has the luxury of spending a first round pick on a RB when that's one of the few real strengths of the team right now.

I did not pick Watt, because I don't think he's a good fit for what we're looking for, schematically.

I did not pick Clayborn, Pouncey, or LeShoure, due to value.

Whoah! Those are the EXACT SAME players I picked. Nick and I in 100% agreement.... that's kind of freaky!

Agreed, and I would also add tht I'm not certain he's the best RB in the draft.

    Adam Carriker II.

Make that 3 for 3. You guys matched me exactly. I guess the three of us agree on two things:

    1. the acceptable picks at #14
    2. HUbison is the manliest man of all man-kind.

I guess I'm a little surprised at only half being okay with Bowers or Jordan. Yes, they both have question marks, but I would think either would be "acceptable".

Av, Vernon Gholston is frightened by Hub's manliness!

That said, I agreed perfectly with all three of you EXCEPT, I would be alright with JJ Watt for this reason and this reason alone. Both Cam Jordan and Watt project to be 3-4 5 tech DE's in the NFL. Jordan's more versatile, but Watt is the better player from what I've seen. If, and only IF, Spags thinks he can destroy offenses with JJ Watt, then I'm very much willing to give the man who orchestrated the 18-1 Patriots offensive shutdown in the super bowl the benefit of the doubt.

The difference betwen Watt and Carriker is that Carriker was drafted by Linehan and everything he touched turned to rust. Spags KNOWS defensive linemen, and if he thinks he can get the most out of Watt, and can do more with him than Liuget or Smith or Kerrigan, then I'm willing to give him the benefit of the doubt on this one. But unless Spags wants him, I don't.
    I believe!

Well, I think everyone almost thinks alike on this site. I only voted for three players Jones, Liuget & Smith. I should of added Quinn but didn't think he would be there at 14.

I would rather move down because of value for the rest of the players.

Re: Which of the following prospects are acceptable choices for Pick #14?

    I picked the following players:

Julio Jones, Cameron Jordan, Aldon Smith, Corey Liuget, Da'Quan Bowers, Robert Quinn.

The reason i didn't pick Kerrigan is that i have him as fifth on my DE rankings, and i would like to think that, if all four ahead DEs ahead of him (Quinn, Smith, Jordan, Bowers) are gone, that there would be better value at 14 than Kerrigan. I'm not sure who, but I am hoping that if we go DL that we get one of the four DEs i mentioned previously or Corey Liuget (my no. 2 DT)

I don't like picking an RB that high, as i don't think the value is there this year, and although i think you should always draft BPA in round 1, i don't think Ingram or LeShoure will be the BPA at 14.

Kerrigan, Watt and Clayborn either just don't fit our scheme, or the value isn't right. I see Clayborn and Kerrigan as being picked around the late teens/early 20s, and Watt is suited for a 3-4. Pouncey is a decent player but i think if we want to go interior OL its best to do so in rounds 3 or 4

I picked Jones, Smith, Liuget, Bowers, and Quinn. I would have picked Nick Fairley too if he were on the list but I figured you may have him in the AJ Green-Patrick Peterson category

While there is some talk of Fairley's "stock" dropping, I don't think he'll be there at #14.

Fairly is one of the players i would take off more draft board due to character concerns. No way would i take him at 14, no sir...

    Marvin Austin too...

Re: Which of the following prospects are acceptable choices for Pick #14?

I'm not sure what to make of Fairley. He's definitely got a bit of "attidude," but I'm not sure if its Albert Haynesworth "attitude," or Warren Sapp "attitude." In any event, I think he'll go in the top 10.

As for the poll, I'm intrigued by the responses. I'm surprised that there are 3 people who consider Julio Jones "unacceptable." I'm also a bit surprised by the relatively low % for Cameron Jordan.

In the end, though, it seems like the "Big 3" for the Rams is Jones, Liuget and A.Smith.

And Howard Balzer agrees with you, Teke. Over the weekend, he said Watt is the "Justin Tuck" player that Spags moves up and down the line. Balzer is convinced Watt can play a 4-3 End on running downs and UT on passing downs.
