Forget Chad Greenway... now AJ Hawk to the Whiners?

San Fran won the coin toss today between them and the Raiders, and now the Whiners will pick 6th overall instead of 7th. That makes a HUGE difference, only because right now the draft is expected to go down like this...

    Houston - Bush
    New Orleans - Leinart/Young
    Tenn - Leinart/Young/Cutler
    NYJ - Leinart/Young/Cutler/DeAngelo Williams/D'Brickashaw

So Green Bay will likely be selecting the first defensive player in this draft. It's either going to be Super Mario Williams or A.J. Hawk.

San Fran is now primed to select whichever player Green Bay passes up on. A.J. Hawk would be a great replacement for Julian Peterson, and Mario Williams I believe has the strength and ability to play DE in the 3-4, and would add a very talented player on that Whiner defensive line. They could also look at a DT like Haloti Ngata who is an ideal 3-4 NT, which they lack.

And perhaps even more importantly for us, Michael Huff likely now slides past San Fran because of the liklihood of either Hawk or Mario being available.

Yeah, seeing Hawk in the bay area is not something I'm looking forward to, but the Whiners already had a great LB in Peterson who they lost. So really, at best, this could cause them to break even, maybe get out slightly better. I don't think it would drastically improves their club this year from year's past.

A bittersweet situation, but I think overall it would work to our advantage to get Huff.
