Free Agency Poker: Place Your Bets
How would you address, in betting terms, the various needs that might be filled in the FA market:
Stand Pat: Stick with what we have on the roster.
Bet: Sign a free agent to compete with the current players.
Raise: Sign a premium FA to start.
Here are my "bets":
Wide Receiver: stand pat
Offensive Guard: bet
Backup running back: bet
Defensive tackle: raise
Outside LB: raise
Safety: bet
Re: Free Agency Poker: Place Your Bets
Would love to raise a little more but wanted to be realistic.
Wide Receiver: stand pat
Offensive Guard: raise
Backup running back: bet
Defensive tackle: bet
Outside LB: raise
Safety: bet

My sentiments exactly. Agree with that assessment. Maybe a mixture of Bet/Raise with OG. But I think if we pick up a solid OG we should be fine. DT number 1 Priority, OLB Number 2
Re: Free Agency Poker: Place Your Bets
WR- Stand pat
OG- bet
B/U RB- bet
DT- bet
OLB- raise
S- bet

Wide Receiver: stand pat
Offensive Guard: raise
Backup running back: bet
Defensive tackle: raise
Outside LB: raise
Safety: Stand pat
I think if we raise those 3 areas we will be a playoff caliber team
Re: Free Agency Poker: Place Your Bets
Why does everyone assume we need a dt? I like our setup we will be running 3 to 4 defensive ends alot I would assume. Consider quinn, hall, robbins, and long all going at the qb. Im just saying I think we could get by without a dt. Look at what we did last year without quinn. Im not saying a coefield wouldnt help. But we only have so much money and I think we could put our money elsewhere at least for this year.
Wide receiver - stand pat
guard - raise
running back - bet
defensive tackle - stand pat
Outside linebacker - raise
Safety - bet

Gaurd - Raise
Running Back - Bet
Defensive Tackle - Raise
Outside Linebacker - Bet
Safety - Stand pat
I think the biggest need is DT. If Robbins goes down to injury the Rams are in trouble & this might be his last year.(age)
I think Goldberg is a good locker room presence type guy but not a starter. He is truly a backup. Rams run the ball better when Greco is in the line up.

On passing downs, I completely agree. But what about when the QB doesn't have the ball. Can those 4 stop the run AND get after the QB on passing downs?
Re: Free Agency Poker: Place Your Bets
Wide Receiver - Stand Pat.
Offensive Guard - Raise if possible.
Running Back - Bet.
Defensive Tackle - Bet
Outside Linebacker - Raise if possible.
Safety (Spags Type) - Stand Pat.
As long as we make the correct call's regarding talent, then the positional value's do not matter too much.?

That's true. But I would say with who our coach is we could do good with the talent we have. Spags is known for his defensive lines so im sure he can polish anything up.
Re: Free Agency Poker: Place Your Bets
Wide Receiver: Bet
Bring in a veteran and make these young guys earn a spot on the roster
Offensive Guard: Stand Pat
We will be fine if grecco gives us close to average guard play
Backup running back: raise
Huge hole here we need someone to help Jackson. Preferably Cadillac Williams good 3rd down back.
Defensive tackle: Stand Pat
We can always kick hall to the inside and quinn outside if we need a pass rush. Also lets see what cliff ryan can do coming off an injury he was solid vs. the run a couple years ago.
Outside LB: Stand pat
We dont need to overspend on a LB let spags coach one up.
Safety: ALL IN RAISE!!!
Most important position to address. WE need a safety that can play center field. With all the blitz packages spags has we need to make sure we do not give a huge play to the TEs running a go route. Also we do not have the fastest corners and might need help over the top vs. speed receivers. We are in need of a serious upgrade here.
Re: Free Agency Poker: Place Your Bets
Wide Receiver: RAISE - question marks dominate again this year - Rams will take 5WRs into the season, Amendola (slot), Alexander (injured with less than 10 games experience), Salas (rookie), Pettis (rookie) and Avery (when is he not injured?) Exchange Avery for Plax and you have an actual chance. Don't forget, our starting 2 TEs are a guy with less than 10 games experience and a rookie. The team needs a veteran.
Offensive Guard: bet - lower level wager
Backup running back: bet - rookie free agent
Defensive tackle: stand pat - Gibson, Robbins and Hall as the backup along with Cudjo
Outside LB: stand pat - they like Diggs still and Spags doesn't care about big time OLBers supposedly
Safety: bet but a low level player. Again, Spags supposedly cares little for big name safeties and is more interested in role players. I think this will be a committee approach.
