Free agent QB Shaun Hill of Detroit visiting Rams on Monday. Potential backup for Bradford now that Kellen Clemens has gone to San Diego.

I've often felt he's gotten the short end of the stick in his career. And he'd probably like being that much closer to his home in southeast Kansas.

I saw this and looked at his work so far and he has played very little. He had one year where he played and a lot. Followed by 1-3 games a year. Not enough.

I think this is horrible.......The Rams should always have a 3 prong QB approach.

    #1 starter
    #2 backup
    #3 development

Only way they should consider this -- if A.Davis is gonna be cut.....

We used to have a nice tradition as a team of bringing it backups that could possibly be starters and some youth....

Now are tradition is to just sign a guy no one wants......You can always trade for a backup mid season if you don't have the right guy / or he is not ready / too young etc....

Lets get some talent in here behind Bradford....even if he is raw and 22 years old

You might want to wait until after the draft to conclude that the Rams don't want to add a developmental QB.

The idea that your top option if Sam Bradford got hurt would be a rookie, maybe a fourth rounder or later, would be nuts.
Shaun Hill has STARTED 26 games in the NFL, and has an 86 passer rating, which is pretty good.

Also, it's your VETERAN backup that can really help the developmental guy.

The starter is way too busy and focussed on his job.

Hill is never going to be a starter, but in a roll as a backup, or a stopgap for a few games, I don't see a problem with him.

    Agreed.

The question I have is who is the best guy to help teach the system to the new developmental kid, who also gives you a reasonable shot of winning some games. I'm not sure that's Hill. Though I don't know much about him at this stage in his career, so I could very well be wrong.

My question is who mentored Aaron Rodgers? Was it Craig Nall or Brett Farve?

    >>My question is who mentored Aaron Rodgers? Was it Craig Nall or Brett Farve?>>

Well, it wasn't Favre, who was well known as a guy who ignored the guys t he Packers brought in, like Brunell, Kurt Warner, and Rodgers. He was pissed when they drafted Rodgers. Favre himself admitted that he never was that guy. That's like saying Joe Montana mentored Steve Young.

Now Warner did mentor Bulger , Eli Manning, Leinart, but Kurt Warner is one of a kind, and mostly, like with Kellen Clemens and Austin Davis, it's that veteran backup st anding beside the youngster in practice, bending his ear. Go to training camp, and you will see this for yourself.

Rodgers had Tom Clements, a former CFL star QB as QB coach from 2006 to 2012, so I'm sure Rodgers was his pet project. I also doubt that Clements said anything in his time there that Favre listened to at all.

You missed the point....my comment was more that we would have Austin Davis on our roster for a third season, and with Bradford hurt I don't think he has ever played one snap.

Either cut him or keep him as backkup and not waste money on a guy like Hill.....

If Hill signs I want Davis cut within 48hrs of that signing

Free-agent QB Shaun Hill completes Rams visit and heads home w/out contract. But parties are still talking.

Re: Free Agent QB Shaun Hill Visiting Rams

Because teams never have/bring in extra QB's for camp... If we sign Shaun or someone else, and draft a kid, and have Davis, then we'll have the normal four arms for camp. So tell me again why we would cut Davis before August?
