Free Agent Visits
Doesn't look like any of the big free agents are coming for a visit
John Clayton covers the NFL for ESPN.com.
Free agency opened with an explosion of phone calls to set up visits for the 308 NFL available players.
Teams couldn't contact agents of free agent players until 12:01 a.m. ET Friday. Once they did, visits were set up for later in the day. The Broncos, Seahawks, ***** and Browns were among the most aggressive teams.
Bengals guard Eric Steinbach is heading to Cleveland for a visit, with secondary trips set up with Tampa Bay and Seattle. The Seahawks talked Chargers guard Kris Dielman into making Seattle his first stop. Falcons defensive end Patrick Kerney will begin his free agency tour in Denver. If no deal is worked out there, Kerney is off to Seattle for a visit.
Patriots tight end Daniel Graham visits the Broncos on Friday and has the Seahawks on his list of visits for later in the weekend. The Vikings persuaded Rams wide receiver Kevin Curtis to visit them first, but there could be weather problems. Most people thought Curtis would go to Detroit. The Vikings are also scheduling a trip for Giants tight end Visanthe Shiancoe for Friday.
Leonard Davis of the Cardinals hasn't scheduled a trip because negotiations were heating up with at least three NFC East teams, including the Dallas Cowboys.
Ravens tackle Tony Pathos scheduled a visit to Jacksonville for Friday. Falcons fullback Justin Griffith plans to go to Tampa Bay. The ***** are expected to get a visit from Ravens linebacker Adalius Thomas. The Redskins were expected to be working on Bills linebacker London Fletcher. Colts halfback Dominic Rhodes plans to visit the Giants. Bills cornerback Nate Clements was talking to the Browns, Titans, ***** and several other teams.

Re: Free Agent Visits
I had a bad feeling about this year to be completely honest. There is really no big name guy that I could see us REALLY pursuing, or anyone that is that great that we'd be pursuing (this is after the franchise tagging of Grant and all those other guys).

Re: Free Agent Visits
Linehan and Co. do things secretly. We all should know that by now.

Re: Free Agent Visits
There are a lot of solid players available that will slip under the radar. I think (hope) that these are the players the Rams are pursuing.

Re: Free Agent Visits
The visits will start soon, I am betting that the Rams will wait for other teams to set the market and then they will match or beat those offers once they know what they are dealing with.
I find it interesting that DeWayne White was a player at Louisville while linehan was a coach.

Re: Free Agent Visits
Let's keep in mind that the best teams are not usually the ones that go out and throw a bunch of money at guys right off the bat in free agency. They make smart decisions about personnel, especially at the second tier level. I wouldn't get discouraged about a lack of initial news from Rams Park.

Re: Free Agent Visits
Only thing that concerns me there is that the Seahawks and ***** are reportedly among the most aggressive. I certainly do think that fiscal responsibility pays off in the long run, but in the short run it could be a rough year if Thomas, Clements, Kerney, and/or Dielman sign with teams in our division. Let's just hope if any of those guys do sign with a rival, the team pays an arm and a leg for them.

Re: Free Agent Visits
Chill fellas the last thing you wanna do is overpay for a player and get stuck with a Player that doens't pay off. We'll get who we need Linehan is not afraid of paying.

Re: Free Agent Visits
Oh I don't know. Actually I think all these big dollar FAs find their way to the Left coast. Why, you ask? Because the big $$$ FAs are the biggest gambles in football (next to the top 3 picks in the draft).......tons of money on one player who is just an injury/scheme change/adapting problem from being a complete bust.
