Free agent wide receivers
What receivers are free agents this year(besides Curtis and McDonald of course). If we lose both we definetly need to acquire a third receiver. I know Linehan doesn't use a ton of three receiver sets but if Isaac or Tory are injured we are going to need a solid #3 to fill in and I would prefer not to draft a receiver until at least round 3. I'm pretty sure Donte Stallworth is a free agent but he might be out of our price range. Not to mention the fact he will probably want to start. Can anybody give me a list? So at least I know who we may be looking at.
Re: Free agent wide receivers
This list is from mid-oct so bear with me... could be a couple of mistakes here and there. Found it on a danish site:
Drew Bennett, UFA, Tennessee Titans
Kevin Curtis, UFA, St. Louis Rams
Marc Boerigter, UFA, Green Bay Packers
David Boston, UFA, Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Patrick Crayton, RFA, Dallas Cowboys
Andre' Davis, UFA, Buffalo Bills
Bobby Engram, UFA, Seattle Seahawks
Justin Gage, UFA, Chicago Bears
D.J. Hackett, RFA, Seattle Seahawks
Shaun McDonald, UFA, St. Louis Rams
Samie Parker, RFA, Kansas City Chiefs
Jerome Pathon, UFA, Atlanta Falcons
Edell Shepherd, RFA, Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Travis Taylor, UFA, Minnesota Vikings
Scottie Vines, RFA, Detroit Lions
Bobby Wade, UFA, Tennessee Titans
Peter Warrick, UFA, Seattle Seahawks
Kelley Washington, UFA, Cincinnati Bengals
Alvis Whitted, UFA, Oakland Raiders
Ernest Wilford, RFA, Jacksonville Jaguars

If not resigned, he'd be a nice addition to be a 3rd Reciever since he'll likely sign for much less than Curtis will ask.
Re: Free agent wide receivers
I would love to get Wilford. Also, after reading that list, am I the only one who remembers when David Boston was the hottest thing in the NFL? What a fall that guy took.

It really does take its toll on you.
Re: Free agent wide receivers
If Wilford is a restricted free agent, then he'll likely get an offer sheet from Jacksonville, which means we'd have to give up draft compensation to sign him. Frankly, I would suspect they'll give him the offer that requires first round compensation. They don't have very much at the receiver position as it is and it wouldn't be smart to give him the middle offer because they'd only get a fourth round pick in return for him (since that's where he was drafted).
Re: Free agent wide receivers
Not much out there besides Wilford. Maybe Engram, Taylor or Parker. If this is all there is then maybe we should draft a receiver.
Re: Free agent wide receivers
after looking at that list, maybe we should try and keep who we have, that is not a very impressive list.
