Free Agent, which would you rather have?

Atari Bigby or Matt Birk? You can grab one for high dollars but not both. Both fill pressing needs. Bigby is 27 currently in his 3rd season, and Birk is 32 in his 11th season. So, who do you want?

I go with Matt Birk. Then draft an OT in round 1 and hope for a quick turnaround behind an improved line ala the Falcons.

Yeah, id go with Birk as well. Look at what an "old" Kevin Mawae has done for Tennessee. But if you turn it into a Birk or Suggs question, I'd have to take the defender.

Oh toughy...I'd have to say Birk in this situation.

We need to fix that o-line bad. I know we have a bad secondary, but we have the WORST offensive line in the NFL.

I'd say Birk as well, because a) centre is the weakest spot on our roster and b) he's simply a better player than Bigby.

Re: Free Agent, which would you rather have?

is a very close call Bigby is on the crisp of the wave to elite players at their own position in the NFL... but i go for Birk because of the depth of talent in next years draft at the Safety position...true the top ones like William Moore & Taylor Mays are probably best suited to play FS but they are likely to be taken in the middle of the 1st anyway..however outside of the 1st and until the 4th round even, there is likely to be good SS prospects still available...

our line needs a leader more than anything else..Pace should have been the man but thats just not him!
Orlando takes care of his own business, but he`s not someone who`ll vocally lead his men...Cogs is more suited to that and if i were to pick some linemen to be in my trench in a battle Cogs would be right at the top of my wish list, however unfortunately theres refs in the NFL.

a good Centre doubles as a Guard aswell...if we had say Hutchinson & Faneca as our two guards we could get away with someone who is basically just a short snapper but we have undersized Guards and because we dont have a Centre who can pick up the blitz and help out our Guards, they are being under-used as alongside a solid Centre who can block they would be able to use their good mobility to get to the next level and hit some linebackers out of the way of Jax instead of being overwhelmed by over 30lbs heavier NT`s..hell even most of the UT`s in the NFL are slightly bigger than our Guards..

if we get Birk..we will get the Bell who we thought we were getting and the Cogs that was so highly rated in College!

    thats what im hoping anyway...

    Birk a thousand times over.

As much as I love Bigby, he excells against the run, but struggles a little in coverage. Birk is pure class, tough as nails and will stabilise the center position until he retires- that is, unless we draft Alex Mack.

I couldn't have said it any better. We need help at the center position in a big way. A guy like Birk would bring some leadership to the O-line as well.

I would say Birk. I live in Indiana and so I always get the Colts game and it is amazing how different their offense is when Jeff Saturday is in the game. A good center goes a long way for an offensive line.

Re: Free Agent, which would you rather have?

I think Bigby would be more likely to be looking for a big payday, and would therefore ignore our obvious flaws to sign with us, over Birk, who would be more likely looking for a winning team at this point in his career.

Still, I would have to choose Birk in this case.

Re: Free Agent, which would you rather have?

Bigby is not going to get a big pay day I don't think he even makes a million this year. He if was as elite as some are saying his second round tender would have been easily snatched up. That said he isn't going to make mondo dollars because Sean Jones and Jermaine Phillips will dominate the money at SS. It is possible to get both.

Bigby is nice, but we desperately need a center, but I think Bigby would have a higher chance of coming here than Birk would.

Gotta go with Birk. If our offensive line can somehow improve, our whole team will improve.

Bigby won't get a big pay day he has been benched in favor for CB Charles Woodson and Aaron Rouse has outplayed him at times. I think he is a great compliment to OJ and he shouldn't come with a huge price tag.

Birk is a class act and would help the o line just by attitude alone!!!!
