Georgia WR A.J. Green suspended four games by NCAA
Confirmed via Twitter by # Joe Schad, who covers college football for ESPN.NCAA rules A.J. Green must sit out four games
4:35 pm September 8, 2010, by Tim Tucker
ATHENS — University of Georgia wide receiver A. J. Green must miss four games before being eligible to play again, the NCAA ruled late this afternoon.
According to the facts of the case submitted by Georgia, Green sold his Independence Bowl game jersey to an individual who meets the NCAA definition of an agent.
Green has repaid the $1,000 he received for the jersey to charity.
Georgia plans to appeal in hopes of having Green’s suspension reduced. He sat out last week’s season opener against Louisiana-Lafayette and also must sit out the next three games if the NCAA ruling stands.
Green is considered by many to be the top wide receiver prospect eligible for the 2011 NFL Draft. Let the debate begin as to what, if anything, this means for his possible draft stock.

Juuuuuuulio Jonnnes! I want him on our squad. I think wherever we end up landing in the draft this year, we'll be able to pick up a pretty good WR. This class seems full of them.

Well I was going to make a sarcastic comment, but it is so hard to pull that off when not talking, so I'm just gonna go with, meh.

Randy Moss had legal troubles during his times in college and look how he turned out. It really depends if he does something drastically bad then we can leave out the huge question marks.

Re: Georgia WR A.J. Green suspended four games by NCAA
I'd have to know more. The agents are trying to do trickier and trickier things to get money to the players before they out to make sure the players signs with them. This sounds to me like an agent trying to circumvent the rules to get Green some cash. The question is if Green knew what was going on or not.
Not that it makes him a bad person if he did, but it makes me think he's a cash kind of guy, and if he will be hard to sign.

I've always heard Green was a good character kid, so I'm not going to fret about this. We need the Rams to pick him anyways.

Re: Georgia WR A.J. Green suspended four games by NCAA
This shouldn't be a problem, especially seeing as "jersey sales" are among the most hypocritical things for the NCAA to take stances on, but I could see it being somehow spun as a reason not to draft him by the current administration.

Re: Georgia WR A.J. Green suspended four games by NCAA
Green doesn't strike me as a guy with a huge ego and who is out for cash. I could see the Rams still taking him in the draft.

Sold his jersey to someone the NCAA defines as an agent?
OH NO NOT THAT!
Cleaning agent?
Secret agent?
What?!
Anyhow Green donated the money to Charity.
Not an issue in my book. Not sure if this rubs the 4 pillars wrong though?!

Re: Georgia WR A.J. Green suspended four games by NCAA
I think with the additon of Green, or even Jones or Baldwin, it would solidify our offense.
We have a couple of young tight ends (UH OH and OH OH).
We have a young franchise quarterback.
We have a young pair of tackles for the next decade.
We have some potential on our young receiving squad.
We have Steven Jackson, one of the best RB's in the NFL.
However, we lack the firepower of a great offense because we do not have a #1 WR.
With Green, we could have Clayton as the #2, with Robinson and Avery in the slot. Avery would be a great fit in the slot, with his speed.
