Re: Get Scared Vick Haters...
I can't believe no one sees what is happening here!!! Spags is a defensive guy!!! We will draft Suh and acquire more pieces for a complete defensive scheme. This is exciting, but as for offense we can expect a little less.
What does this mean? By getting Vick, this means there is no real commitment to improve the offensive line for now. If there is anyone that can elude the rush it's Vick.
So this could mean two things for Vick running our offense: (1) Vick will create opportunities with his legs, and spend valuable time with Bulger in building up his passing skill or (2) The poor guy is gonna get pummeled!
At least that's what I see is a possibility.
Vick said he wants to be a starter. Lesson for us? Careful what you ask for.

Re: Get Scared Vick Haters...
What we want: 100% pure performance.

What we've got: Beat up, serviceable, but boring.
What we'd have with Vick: Something that once appeared fast, but now is old, rusty, and never really had that much under the hood when it did run.

Re: Get Scared Vick Haters...
Sam, I love you man but how can you say how well or how poorly any player will perform next season? There's no way of knowing. Bulger might play really well next season because he's finally been able to stay with just ONE offense or it might not be the right offense for him. We don't know, only the coaches do. If the coaches bring Vick in and feel he's the best chance for us to win football games after training camp, why not support that? And what if he actually plays well? What then? I think a lot of people would be singing a different tune...
This can be said about any player, really. However, Vick, whether you guys like it or not, is a talented football player. At this point in his career, he'll be forced to be more of a pocket passer and who knows, we might be surprised at how well he plays. Or he might stink. The point is, we don't know and I think we should have an open mind on whoever is starting at QB for us next year...even if it's Michael Vick.

Re: Get Scared Vick Haters...
Jake, you know I respect your opinions, even when they are different from mine. I never tried to suggest how a player might be next season, only how they are right now. I can see how I messed up on that one. I do think that Bulger is that Grand Marquis with a lot of dings and dents, but there might be a police interceptor under that hood that just needs a tune-up to make that thing run.
That Mustang? Well, once upon a time, it looked really cool...who wouldn't want a convertible Mustang? They looked fast, they were the "original" pony car - but most of the convertibles came out of the factory with six-bangers under the hood because the unibody design limited the amount of torque they could take before damage resulted. That's Vick - once he might have had the "torque", but now....I'll just say he's seen his better days.
Chances are, Marc has too. That's why I want the '66 427 Shelby Cobra. It's no longer the best performing car out there, but I'd be willing to bet that there's not too many that could handle and run as good. Hopefully in the 2011 draft, we can find that Shelby Cobra.Super Bowl Champions 2013!

Re: Get Scared Vick Haters...
This isn't a question pertaining to Vick, just more so in general:
Rotoworld just posted this regarding Vick:
So my question is :By moving him before March 5, the Eagles could get themselves off the hook for Vick's impending $1.5 million roster bonus and $3.75M salary.
When does the trading period open? I didn't think any trades could be made before March 5.

Re: Get Scared Vick Haters...
Swell .. Can you just imagine the din in the dome every time a defensive player sacks Vick, promptly celebrates by dropping down on all fours, and starts barking: woof, WOOF, WOOOOFF!
If Vick becomes a Ram, I hope we don't have to play the Browns in Cleveland next season ...
