Gholston or Chris Long?

Would you guys rather see us take gholston or chris long? Personally, I would take gholston. He is a run stopper who can be used in coverage as well. He could also be a dominant defensive player in the future which we could use a lot. What do you guys think?

Re: Gholston or Chris Long?

Gholston isn't a run stopper, he's a pass rusher. You should make this a poll so we can keep count. But I would much rather have chris long.

Re: Gholston or Chris Long?

I like Chris Long, but I have this feeling that he will be taken at #1. Leaving us Gholston at #2. Which we still need a DE and he's the best available after Chris Long.

If people think we need to start building, fill our holes we need. DE is the priority.

Personally, I think if Chris Long is off the board, the Rams should take Dorsey and shuffle the line around to fill the holes.

Better Dorsey than a guy who takes plays off.

Re: Gholston or Chris Long?

I agree most people here would take Chris Long because at this point in his career, he's the more complete player. But I'm staying with the guy I believe will not only catch Chris Long, but surpass him inside of 2 years. Barring injuries of course.

Re: Gholston or Chris Long?

Rp16 you say he is inconsistent but do you think maybe the reason he only does good against good teams is because he doesn't play against the bad teams because OSU is usually beating teams pretty bad

Re: Gholston or Chris Long?

.
Gholston is not real good against the run. In fact, there some questions whether he can hold up against the Larger NFL OT's.

Long is really stout against the run. Long has stood up to Double teams for two years. He still stuffs the run in those situations.

Gholston gets tired in the 4th quarter after being ran at - and he takes off plays. However, Gholston is very intriguing because of his explosiveness - and his strength. I think some scouts were surprised to find out that Gholston has the type of strength he does, because he has been pigeon-holed as a pass-rusher - almost a tweener. Most tweeners don't have the strength this guy has.

I don't know how Long could do much more to impress. He's a tireless worker, all-effort player, that stays healthy. I think Long is a more certain commodity than Gholston's potential at this point.

No, because even when your up by 15-20 points your starters are in the game. If I've learned anything from playing sports its never let up, because your opponant will come back even from the largest deficit. So I don't believe that he was taken out of the game, and if he was in the game and he was taken plays off, then I have a problem with that.

One example is the New Orleans game last season, we were up by like 35-7 and haslett started playing soft D, and subbed the startes in and out and we almost lost that game, so players should never ever be taking plays off.

And Tony Soprano, good post, I agree 100%
