Great Article by John Clayton on Wide Receivers

Clayton has an article on ESPN on what teams should do that need wide receivers. The gist of the article is don't draft then in the top of the 1st, draft later but you have to be patient for them to develop; and in free agency they usually don't pan out, only if you target a specific receiver or two and wait until you can him at the right price (ie. Boldin). He says:

"So what is the best way to find a top receiver?

Obviously, the best way is through the draft. Being patient with a drafted receiver and developing him is the safest way. Patience finally paid off for the Philadelphia Eagles and New York Giants after years of being pressured to hit free agency hard or pursue trades.

The Eagles are set for years with the receiving corps of DeSean Jackson, Jeremy Maclin and Jason Avant, who just signed a five-year extension to be the No. 3 receiver."

With Rams situation at WR very interesting. Also, give some hope that Avery may develop after all and also Robinson (though the cautions with those two are health not production).

I agree with him, I do like our young wide-outs, hopefully they will mature some more. Just think with Robinson being the go-to guy (he was becoming a threat until he got injured), Avery with the long bombs, and Amendola in the slot. Now we just need a good TE (not saying that I don't like Fells)

I'm curious to see what Robinson does this year. I definitely like his potential, and I'm still holding out hope for Avery. It's just frustrating that we took him over Desean Jackson.

I think Avery is better than DJack, mainly because DJack has Donovan Mcnabb, and other WR's that people have to cover, Avery hasn't "been as good" as DJack because he is our #1 reciever and the Defense uses their best cover guy to mark him.
