How do you feel about the Rams taking a RB in the 3rd round?
Okay IMO Bulger can only play if there are great players around him so i think we should go Sanchez. But obviously Bulger's contract puts us into a situation that we cant take a big contract QB. So we are a probably going to try to protect him so he wont get injured.
However Bulger is not our franchise player Action Jackson is. Spags said Action Jackson is going to be the centerpiece of the offense. So that means he will probably get 30-40 rushes per game. His health has definitely been an issue. We have been horrible without him. If i'm not mistaken we havn't won a game with out Action Jackson in the last 2 years. So that means we need Steven Jackson!
So one way to to keep Jackson healthy is to take a RB that could be a reliable back-up. I dont think Brian Leonard is the guy (yea IMO he is a bust even thou he is from Rutgers and can leap over people). Pittman is a possibility of a back-up but i think we need a back up that is reliable that can block, run fast, and catch the ball.
Some people are saying Devin Moore or Ian Johnson (change of pace backs) but the way we are building this line it looks like we will look to power run the ball with the bigger guys like a steven Jackson.
So here is a guy we look for Rashad Jennings out of Liberty in the 3rd. THis guy is big 6-1 231 pounds. But the thing that makes him good is that he has good hands, very durable, also a very good blocker, and most importantly he is pretty fast.
So do you think a 3rd round RB (like Rashad Jennings)would help Action Jackson. Also do you think we need a back-up RB for S-Jax in the draft?

Pass on RB in the third. Look for Coffee out of Alabama in the 5th...

Well this is how i see we take Smith/Monroe then best WR available (DHB is a dream scenario) Then in the 3rd do we reach for a MLB? or get value here in a RB then counter in the 4th with a run stopping mlb? like appleby.
Coffee is just a back-up that can come in some times. Jennings is the type of guy that can take over if S-Jax needs a quarter or many plays off. Jennings is durable enuff.

I would consider it. Actually it wouldn't be too bad of an idea.
1 Monroe / Smith
2 Britt / Nicks / DHB
3 Jennings
4 Nose Tackle here like Dorrell Scott
5 Frantz Joseph

If we do pick one in the third round, I would hope that we pick Javon Ringer being a Michigan State fan.

I would LOVE to get a guy like jennings in the 3rd to back up sjax, however, i don't think we have that kind of luxury. If you look at all the teams that draft RB's when they don't really need a starter, but get the RB because of value, they are teams that are already winners. Were not.
examples are pittspurgh last reay with mendenhall
didn't really need a starter, got him off of value, because they are winners already.
same with carolina and stewart.
dallas with felix jones.
were not in that boat, although i wish we were

If Shonn Greene is there in the mid part of the 2nd round, I'd be very interested in trying to move up and grabbing him.
I know my last mock has us taking Barden in R3, but I wouldn't mind moving up to try and get Greene.
Having R1 Curry, R2 Beatty and R2 (from moving up) as Shonn Greene would be HUGE for us.RamsFan16

If Jennings has the best value in the third, I am all for taking him. I honestly feel that the draft is for getting the best players possible on the team, not just drafting for need. I know the need for a Mike is more than a back-up running back, but I'm all for BPA at any point in the draft
