How many people who want to draft cutler and trade bulger...
How many people who want to draft cutler and trade bulger also wanted to start fitz and keep him as our future starter and trade bulger after the houston game last year? Just wondering.

That would be like trading a Cadillac for a Yugo because the Yugo "has the potential" to grow into a bigger, faster, more luxurious car.

Re: How many people who want to draft cutler and trade bulger...
that would be nuts, all this talk about drafting cutler drives me nuts when we have many other needs on defense.

Re: How many people who want to draft cutler and trade bulger...
Bulger will be here starting thru 2007....barring injury. If Coach thinks Cutler is our future and drafts him,it will be to sit and learn from Marc for a season or 2...much like Palmer did in Cincy,or Mcnair did in Tennessee,or Culpepper did in Minnesota. Nobody I think is advocating Marc being traded. We need Marc. That is what is so funny about boards like this....people just want everything to be so cut and dried. There is a big picture here....and as I have said in other posts...I would prefer a guy like Huff, but if Cutler is the call...I have no problem at all with it.

Re: How many people who want to draft cutler and trade bulger...
Even if we keep them both, I am questioning why we would invest so much in one position (Bulger, Cutler, Ferotte, and FitzPatrick) when we are so in need of someone that can block and someone that can tackle.

Re: How many people who want to draft cutler and trade bulger...
Because I don't think Linehan is trying to win the SuperBowl in his first year...I think he is trying to build this team into what he thinks it will take to be successful and it's obviously going to take more than 1 player in round one to fix all the issues. We addressed a lot of needs thru free agency on defense and we need a lot more, but again...if Bulger doesn't fit his system, then he needs to get a guy in here that does and doing it now while the guy has time to sit and learn makes perfect sense to me.

Maybe it's just me, but I seem to remember QB Coach Olsen on Bulger: "I’m excited about him. I think he’s a tremendous player. Clearly he was injured this year. I don’t know if that would be considered a concern. Obviously, we have to keep him healthy, number one. But I think he’s a tremendous player. I have all the respect in the world for Marc Bulger, and if we can keep him healthy, I think we’re going to have a heck of an offense next year.”

But there's no anxiety out there when Marc's in that huddle. That's a big thing."
Linehan said Bulger looked outstanding in mini-camp and has shown everything he wants, except he hasn't always stayed healthy. Linehan has been pretty clear about the fact that he likes Bulger but would have trouble passing on a talent of the calibur of say Cutler or Young. This isn't about any system or perceived need. If there's any truth to the rumors, I believe it would be merely the outcome of Linehan's strict adherence to the best player available philosophy. So the question isn't about Bulger's abilities; it's whether it is legitimate to disregard need altogether on the first pick of the draft. I believe you have to weigh need against talent at least a little, but others are free to disagree.Last edited by Goldenfleece; -04-28-2006 at 11:08 AM.

I wouldn't trade up for Cutler but if he's there at 11 I would SERIOUSLY consider taking him. However, if Arizona grabs any of the three QB's they are built for the long run.

Re: How many people who want to draft cutler and trade bulger...
My post was directed at the people who were advocating last night that we draft cutler and trade bulger. There was at least one guy advocating this course of action, i believe ray lewis was involved. I dont like to criticize others for their opinion, however, this one is truly out of left field.
