Re: Howard Balzer on trading up for Cutler
My impression:
1. There probably are legitimate reports that the Rams are exploring the possibility of trading up (as are probably most of the teams in the NFL).
2. There certainly have been comments by Linehan that he likes Cutler.
3. Some reporter, hoping to make a name for himself, put #1 and #2 together and concluded that the Rams are looking to trade up for Cutler - EVEN THOUGH NO RAMS SOURCE HAS SAID AS MUCH!
And you wonder why I hate the media.
Welcome to the St. Louis Rams!

Re: Howard Balzer on trading up for Cutler
And here we have the difference between ESPN and Balzer....ESPN says "hey, maybe the Rams will trade up for Cutler. Let's run with that!" Whereas Balzer asks Linehan, Shaw and Ziggy if we're trading for Cutler; they say NO; he reports as much.
Man, I hate ESPN."Before the gates of excellence the high gods have placed sweat; long is the road thereto and rough and steep at first; but when the heights are reached, then there is ease, though grievously hard in the winning." --- Hesiod

Re: Howard Balzer on trading up for Cutler
I say we need to sell the possibility that we would take Cutler, if he were on the board. Not gong to happen us taking him but it would make the possibility to trade down more valuable. The last thing we need is Howard Balzer saying anything to the contrary.

Maybe so, but I know I'll sleep a little better knowing that he did.

Re: Howard Balzer on trading up for Cutler
If common everyday fans can sniff this out as a smokescreen (which the vast majority of this board did), I doubt the 31 other teams need Balzer to get the scoop for them.

Re: Howard Balzer on trading up for Cutler
MY personal opinion...
...the rumors are created to help encourage maybe a team like the Vikings to trade up to push the talent down to the Rams. If they blow enough smoke it might force some hands, as Cutler could be taken top 10 to the right team that is in need of a quarterback.

I agree, but we still want them guessing. " Whereas Balzer asks Linehan, Shaw and Ziggy if we're trading for Cutler; they say NO; he reports as much.
Balzer has access to our HC and VP, weather he did speak to theses guys and they said no way on taking a QB, I doubt that too, but still he should not say we are not taking a QB when it hurts the value of the number 11 pick, if someone wants a QB bad enough if there is a chance we will take one, why remove any doubt.

Unless of course, they're all in on it together. Aha!!!
Man, I love the draft. It's got drama, excitement, plot twist, and maybe a 2nd shooter on the grassy knoll."Before the gates of excellence the high gods have placed sweat; long is the road thereto and rough and steep at first; but when the heights are reached, then there is ease, though grievously hard in the winning." --- Hesiod
