Why would we spend that much money on Culpepper when we already have Bulger? I would love to see a receiver with tremendous skill like Moss in STL. But Culpepper, we can pass.
I don't think Culpepper would break the bank. Oakland signed him last year to a one-year deal worth $3.2 million and he didn't really do anything out there. He won't be able to command much, especially with as little attention as he'll get. And you could make the argument that he'd be a better back-up option than Berlin or Trent Green.
Not that I'm arguing for this per se, but I think it's Moss' money we'd have to worry about, not Culpepper.
Culpeper is definitly an option as a backup QB, for cheap he would be much better then our current backup situation.
I dont Know If Daunte Is Ready to give Up on Being A Starter. If he is then Maybe it would Be worth a shot. There is that Linehan Culpepper conection
I hear there are a lot of doubters in the NFL about Culpepper's knees and resulting lack of mobility. I would assume Dante will get lots of air miles as he makes the rounds to teams trying to prove he can still play.
Buddy? They hated each other, and that's one reason Moss was traded to the Raiders in the first place. We could get one or the other, but not both. The most recent quote I could find was an interview done in '06 with Moss on the Raiders webpage:
I wouldn't mind Culpepper at all as a backup if the price was right. And of course how could anyone not want Moss, but can we afford to pay him is the question.Quote:
Could you have played with Culpepper again?"
Moss blurted out a loud and drawn out, 'well' followed by another pause, before saying. ‘I think we could've played together again, but there was so much in the air to clear up, so many negative things. Who knows? I root for Daunte. I hope he does well in Miami and hope we meet up in the playoffs.'
It was rather easy to interpret that Moss was rooting for Culpepper to go to any club but Oakland.
