I Thought About It...BJ Raji Should Be the Pick

There is not another player in the draft that could impact his respective unit in such to such a degree...

Not only will you get his individual production but he could also have a profound impact on the players around him...those players he would impact the most are former first round picks..Chris Long and Adam Carriker. So not only are you getting your money's worth out of Raji but you will also start to see previous first round picks play to their potential. Raji will demand a double team which should get guys like Long and Carriker and even Little in one on one situations. The defensive line was always a valued position in this defensive system no matter what team he's been on...Not only could Raji fill a gaping hole on your defense left by the expected departure of La'Roi Glover but it will also IMPROVE the production from that position considering Glover has been past his prime for some years now...

I don't believe there is another position that impacts their entire unit more than the defensive line...the linebackers can make plays, the defensive backs to have to cover as long and are given oppurtunities to turn the ball over with errant throws...your not only drafting a defensive tackle here...your drafting the final piece in the most important aspect of your defense and beginning of the Rams reaping the benefits of their prior big money investments...

I like your thinking, if we want to shore up our run d, it starts up front. One of the big things I see that would prevent Raji would be how Spags evaluates the play of Clifton Ryan. Being an Eagles fan you are probably not too familar with him, but he has shown promise in his first couple of seasons. I'm not gonna lie, I'm not an expert on Raji, but I have heard good things about him. If he is a player that commands a double team, then from what I can tell he would be an obvious improvement over Clifton Ryan, and could very well warrant our first round pick.

Spags and Jim Johnson like to have guys to rotate on the defensive line throughout the game to keep guys fresh...Ryan would still get snaps in there in certain situations...he could replace Carriker at the goal line...him and Raji would be a 700 lbs interior line.

I really don't think Raji is an option for the Rams unless they first trade down from the second overall pick.

After a very impressive showing at the Senior Bowl, I have him slotted to go as high as Cincy (#6) and as low as Denver (#12).

The NationalFootballPost.com has him listed as one of five elite prospects in the entire draft...
