A lot of it depends on who we pick at #2. If we go along the OL, you have to look at Heyward-Bey and to a lesser degree, IMO, Maualuga. I can't say I'd be 100% surprised if Maualuga were to fall fall out of the top 32, anyway. If we go with Curry at #2, an OT becomes important. I don't think I'd like to take the risk on Oher, but Eben Britton might be a safer, less spectacular pick. However, getting an OT at #20 in the first place is going to be very difficult if Detroit takes Stafford first overall. They have virtually nobody to protect him and I can't see them passing on Smith/Oher/Britton unless they want Maualuga or Laurinitis to lead their equally unpopulated defense at that pick.
The other thing to consider with Detroit is that they have a lot of ammo with three picks in the top 33. A trade up into the top fifteen (to get someone like Brian Cushing/Aaron Maybin), though unlikely, remains a distant possibility.
i went Heyward-bey...the others can fall some more.
I liked & voted Maualuga MLB. Brian Cushing would also be a great choice.
I don't want Rams to give up the picks to move up. Just take K. Britt , B. Robiski or the fan favorite in R. Brace in 2nd .
Sleeper is definately Sanchez, because Spags may want to bring in his own guy, because he really isn't married to Bulger. I want the Rams to Draft Monroe so I gave the slight edge to Mauluga over DHB. Mauluga gives the Rams a defensive enforcer in the middle that we desperately need. Our defense has been considered soft for a long time putting a big mean guy like Mags in the middle will change that. IMO DHB is fast, but he is to raw
Trading up may actually be best for us in the long run but it would take more patience by the fans. I say this because doing so would have to cost us our 2nd, 3rd and probably 5th round picks. We would be trading...
1 elite, 2 quality and 1 project for 2 elites.
If this is the case, knowing the rebuilding will take two more drafts, I would trade up for Oher even if we take Smith/Monroe with the number 2. Sounds crazy but with Brown, Bell and Greco I think we could set our o-line for the next several years.
Get a NT in next years great crowd and either a wr or lb and handle the rest in free agency.
Has to be Percy Harvin. You cannot let playmakes drop that low.
Maclin could drop passed 20 and i would think most of us here at clanram would like to see us trade up to get him if he drops that far, assuming we get a Tackle first. If we go curry obviosuly we could trade up for one of the lineman (britton, beatty)if we have to.
if we got OT with pick #2, then we should get Maualuga.
If we get curry with pick #2 then we should get micheal Oher
I agree w/Jackson that would definitely fill two needs with quality picks IMO.
Assuming I am the GM and we take a tackle at 2 I would have to trade up for Ray Maualuga, and would seriously consider Mark Sanchez and Percy Harvin.
The pick is Rey Mauluaga by deafault
We wont waste a 1st round pick for Beanie Wells
Harvin is already not going in the top 20 and i dont think we are intrested in him
Most likely we are taking Monroe or Smith so we wont be in the market for Oher
There is value later for a QB so no marc sanchez
So it was down to Heyward-bey and Mauluaga and i dont the Rams will trade up for a WR but they will for a MLB so Mauluga is the choice.
I like bey and manuguala and oher if we take curry, but most realistically, i like the idea of trading up a few spots to get laurienitis.
