If Clowney goes number 1 overall can we trade down?

If Clowney goes number one, whether to Houston or to a team that trades with them, can we trade down? Seems that with such a deep draft that, besides Clowney, that there is not one player at a position that people are dying to get. There are 3 or so QBs of the same value 2 or 3 OTs, etc. I think Snead would love to move down and get pics but without Clowney I am having a hard time seeing that happen. Not helping matters is people knowing we won't take a QB, that early anyway.

So with him gone are we stuck at 2 and 13, and is that necessarily a bad thing?

If one of the QBs becomes head and shoulders the best pick, then that #2 becomes valuable.

A team could also deal up for one of the top OT.

If the Rams can't deal, one of those two top OT would be a nice deal at #2

    Yep, all good points.

And really, all the Rams need is for a team to fall in love with a QB, regardless of whether or not he's emerged as the head and shoulders consensus best pick, and become convinced that they have to move in front of the other QB-needy teams to secure him.

Just because there are three Top 5-10 QB prospects doesn't mean all QB needy teams would be equally happy with any of them. That can work in the Rams' favor.

Valid points have been mentioned by both Nick and Barry.

I'd like to add that the Jaguars GM stated he's open to a trade down, and they are obviously in the market for a QB. This only adds value to our pick, seeing that teams who are desperate to secure there guy will have to leapfrog the Jaguars.

I guess we'll have to revisit this after the combine to see what players are pulling ahead. Hopefully there will be clear cut front runners, and not like the OTs where its so even its flip a coin. Where teams are saying you take Robinson, fine we love Matthews. I am hoping Some teams fall in love!!!
