This is the first time and maybe the only time I'll take a DL over Willis. But I don't want to have an overload of LB's and still a hole on the DL.
Both are excellent potential players of course, but I went with Carriker thinking along the lines that Itsguud mentioned here:

Carriker, but if the Rams drafted Willis I wouldn't be as upset as I was last year when we didn't take Ngata. Not a swipe at Hill by the way -- just my feelings at the time. Carriker would likely contribute right away due to our lack of depth at DE and DT. Willis will likely be a star in his own right, but unless somebody gets hurt, I don't see him helping us much this year. My two cents anyway ... For those who prefer BPA, most of the "experts" have Willis rated higher than Carriker. Either one of those guys would look good in horns.
Carriker could come in and adress an immediate need at either tackle or end. I prefer Willis however, but our linebacker corps seems crowded enough.
LB is a luxury and DT is a need.
Carriker, His size speed & versatility will make him a valuable asset to any line in the NFL for years to come, barring injuries of course
I went with Patrick Willis but I went with him based on what I think will happen with certain players. First of all I believe that Patrick Willis will be a franchise linebacker that only comes along once in a while. I expect him to be the next Ray Lewis or Brian Urlacher. Mabye my expectations are too high, who knows. My second reason is that I think with the flashes that Victor Adeyanju showed last year he will be a great defensive end. He just needs to work on his technique some more and get some more experience. He has the best to learn from in Leonard Little.
Since we would be passing on a defensive lineman I think that we would end up targeting someone in the second or later in the draft who could fit our profile of a run stuffer.
i went for Willis if we were gonna play a 3-4 base defense then i may have gone for carricker!
like i said in another post only Willis & landry are certs in this years defensive side of the draft class and overall id say theres only 3,those two and calvin johnson that will be good from day 1!
