Re: If Spags opts for a 2-RB system who will be the 2nd back?
I'd think Leonard or a rookie...

I'd like to see what Leonard can do without the burden of having to bulk up to play FB, which he simply is not suited to do at the NFL level. As I recall, when he was in "tailback shape" at the combine, he ran a pretty decent 40 time.
Welcome to the St. Louis Rams!

Ward is most likely going to command a lot of money, and I wouldn't want to spend that much money for a second string running back. We're not in good shape this year.
I would rather see Leonard Leaping than trying to plow through d-linemen. He's not big enough, and he's more suited to be a running back. Darby is also a potential candidate for the second string job. He has a lot of elusiveness and power.

I think Ricky Williams would complement jackson nicely. Plus we should be able to pick him up for a reasonable price.

Re: If Spags opts for a 2-RB system who will be the 2nd back?
He was clean last year and i think he will try to stay clean!
With that pothead comment i do think he will be cheap!
But, do u really want a guy who looks exactly like S-jax and basically wieghts about the same has the same power running game (but williams is slower) being #2 RB.
How easy is it for ppl to have a gameplan for both. I mean only for S-Jax. I think it would be better to have a change of pace back.
N why shouldnt we pay Ward's pricetag. Bulger should be willing to reconstruck his contract so we cood put that money in Ward's pocket

Re: If Spags opts for a 2-RB system who will be the 2nd back?
Darby should be a good enough back. I liked what I saw of him in the last few games of the seasons(excluding where he was tackled by a ref). They don't need to be spending money on running backs right now anyways.
Also, why do people think the Rams would have any chance at Derrick Ward. The man ran for 1,000 yards being a backup. He will obviously be a starting running back for a team next year because of his multipurpose ability and the fact that he was the most effective back in the NFL last year.

What about correll buckhalter he could catch the ball. He cood run (more of a scatt back) he wont demand much money. And he is a return specialist!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Re: If Spags opts for a 2-RB system who will be the 2nd back?
My answer depends on what Spags wants.
Does Spags want a small super fast scat back to make the corner runs as a change of pace to S-Jackson. Spags might want a lead blocker type FB and to stay in and block in pass protection. I personally like the scat back type of RB that can also catch the ball out of backfield. Spags can leave the up the middle hard pounding runs for S-Jackson.
What if the Rams used S-Jackson the way Steelers used Jerome Bettis to pound the ball.
