I'd trade it for whatever value I could get. I'm not seeing anyone of value for us at the #1 slot. But since that is probably not the spirit of this thread, I'll go with....
Gaines Adams - DE, Clemson - Immediate upgrade to our pass rush. He's a day 1 starter if we can't re-sign Little
Calvin Johnson. Future of our recieving corp, big physical reciever who can make a play anywhere on the field.
Patrick Willis. The kid is big strong and menacing. He could be our own Ray Lewis or Brian Urlacher. If we got him we could move Witherspoon to the outside, his natural position. Our run defense would skyrocket. I'm guessing that with Witherspoon able to drop into coverage more often that we could improve on pass defense also.
I think the only players you could really make a case for right now at the first overall pick would be Brady Quinn, Calvin Johnson, or Joe Thomas. Of those three I'd take Johnson. I'd prefer to trade out of that spot though.
According to the atlanta paper this week, calvin johnson recently ran a 4.38 40. he is also 6 foot 5 and almost 240. if he runs sub 4.4 at the combine, with his size, speed and hands, he would be #1 for me.
