IF we trade our 2nd overall pick

Is it in our best interest to trade our pick as soon as possible?

Assume Miami picks up Flynn. So pretty much the Redskins and Browns will be the ones in running. So, that is to our advantage to drive the price up. However, if Peytons chip falls into place and the Redskins pick him, which would be before the draft. We would be at a disadvantage and we would get less from the Browns. Most probably we would get Draft Value chart requirement (1.4, 1.22 and maybe a 3rd rounder), but still it would be less than what we would get if we pitted the Skins vs. Browns.

So is it in our advantage to trade this as soon as possible. If not a.s.a.p. atleast weeks before the draft. Just something to ponder about and is it something to really think about if the Rams are sure they don't want to draft at 1.2?

Re: IF we trade our 2nd overall pick

I think that trading with the Redskins may be the best option because of this:

If we are getting their additional 1st Rounder next year. That allows us to use our First Rounder (next year's) to move back into the 1st round of this years draft for a total of 3 first round picks (this year).....

I would rather trade our 1st rounder for next year, because I feel we will be a decent team in a weak division. It is very possible that the Redskins could be a TOP 6 pick next season. They play Philly, NYG, and Dallas and a tough schedule with a rookie QB .

Imagine havine 4 of the top 40 picks this season....and still having the Redskins pick next year....

I know people are in love with Blackmon and Khalil but there is a ton of talent in the early parts of this draft

Can't do anything but love it if that possibility comes true.

I do have to say, I think we are in a rare spot and we need to take advantage a.s.a.p. Who cares about picking at #2 overall, lets trade this pick.

I've wondered this myself but I don't think the Rams would want to make any trades until RG3 has his pro day and people can see him throw. They'll probably wait as long as possible to drive that price up. Flynn could end up in Miami but if the Pack franchise him he might not go anywhere.

Also, I don't think any team is really willing to put all their eggs into the Manning basket until they see him play. Peyton could end up somewhere else but I don't really see him going anywhere till later in the offseason. I think he'll restructure his contract (so the Colts don't eat that huge bonus) and hang around for a bit then the Colts will either release him or trade him once people can see he can still sling it.

We are in the driver's seat in this situation, I don't see any need to move fast. Put yourself in Cleveland or Miami's spot, the longer the Rams have the #2 pick the harder their offseasons become. There are many mystery teams that right now nobody is even thinking about as a team who could trade for the pick, but the Rams are in contact with them and hold all the cards in the deck.

The possibility of having a three or four early picks in this draft has me reflecting on the three 1s that were blown about a decade ago.

Demoine Lewis, Ryan Picket, Adam Archuleta

I know, new and better regime.

    Just reflecting.

The funny thing is, I loved Archuleta when he first started playing for us. In those years, he was my favorite player on D after Little. Until of course everything came apart with him

If the Rams trade the #2 to Washington.......

pie in the sky, I thinks they take Trent Richardson at #6.

Who would be ticked off at that?

Not saying I want it to happen, just postulating a guess.

Only possible if Blackmon is off the board. If Blackmon is off the board i could see us moving even further back for more picks and still have a chance at Floyd. Just my opinion of how it could work out(maybe its my wishful thinking if we dont get Blackmon)
