    Its Clowney Time!

Just read this from a pretty good source. Wanted to share and see what everyone thinks. Don't think I can post where its from but you guys will be able to find it.
    2. St.Louis — via Washington (3-13):Jadeveon Clowney, DE, South Carolina.
It is a very rareoccurrence that a pretty good team — the Rams were 7-9 this season — gets achance to draft up here. And in my view, there are three ways to takeadvantage: 1. Take a quarterback, signaling a virtual end to Sam Bradford’sdays as the No. 1 guy; 2. Trade down again, a scenario that may be likelyshould another team fall in love with a player; or 3. Draft Clowney.
All season long, skeptics have looked at Clowney’s stats and his occasional choice to sit out aplay or game and tabbed him a future bust. Look deeper, at his impact on howthe opposition schemed. He’s special … and only going to get better. St. Louiswill find a way to use him, even with Robert Quinn and Chris Long on the field.Oh, and Jeff Fisher loves having a stockpile of pass-rushers.

If "Clowney Time" means time to start discussing Jadeveon Clowney as a potential draft target for the Rams, then I'd say it was "Clowney Time" a few weeks ago.

    Re: Its Clowney Time!

I like Clowney and believe he's the best player in this draft, but I don't see us drafting him for two reasons.

One, I think there's a real chance the Texans either take him number one overall or trade out of the #1 spot with Atlanta who takes him.

Two, that would be far too much money spent on one position. Following next season I believe Quinn is due, and if he has a year that even remotely resembles the one he had this past year, he'll be looking at a raise that would likely make him the highest paid DE in the NFL.

And with Long already making astronomical dollars, it doesn't seem feasible we could allocate that much money at DE.

The only way I see drafting Clowney as a possibilty is if Long goes on the trading block, and I don't see that happening.

Yes lets draft Clowney! Then we can have a race to see who gets more sacks the Rams or our opponents!

    Re: Its Clowney Time!

There are certain pass-rushers who are once-in-a-generation. Robert Quinn was one. Now Clowney is the next.

The problem is the price of an elite pass rusher after the rookie contract runs out. However, here, the solution is simple.

The Rams should trade Robert Quinn for future first round picks and draft Clowney. That way, the Rams will have a once-in-generation pass rusher for the next several years without ever having to pay a FA contract price. In fact, when Clowney is up for his first FA contract, the Rams can use the future pick they acquire to draft the next once-in-a-generation pass rusher (and so on, and so on).

Its really pretty simple when you think about it.

This is great! Now we can wait till the 13th pick since we took Quinn at 14. I like it we get Matthews and Clowney both. This keeps getting better.

No way would I trade Quinn when he's barely hitting his prime, not even for a 1st round pick. If the Rams were to draft Clowney (and that's a big IF), the most likely scenario would either be trading Long to a sack-needy team for a 2nd or 3rd rounder, or to have Clowney and Long rotate until the end of the year, when Long can be cut without any dead money on our cap.

The question is what would we be able to get for Long, he's still a good player at a premium position.

I thought that it was Bernie from that movie about spending a weekend at his beach house!

That's where Quinn picked up his sack dance anyway.
    I believe!
