Re: Jacoby Jones??
Apart from his skills as a kick returner/punt returner, I don't see what he brings to the table.
Welcome to the St. Louis Rams!

Re: Jacoby Jones??
I agree that he has a pretty cool name, but now that we have janoris and rockevnius we have enough cool names and can focus even more on blocking and tackling.

Re: Jacoby Jones??
Nope no need, even as is we have to many WR and some1 will be out the loop and we will have to cut at least 1 or 2 for the final 53.Hopefully Gibson is gone i hate him and think he is garbage lol.

Re: Jacoby Jones??
I disagree, the Rams have had a serious lack of cool of names for a long time, and I think it is the leading cause of our woes. Think about it, the only cool names on the defense the past few seasons? James Laurinitis. The best player on defense? James Laurinitis. How can you expect guys like "Ben Leber" or "Fred Robbins" to contribute much. Chris Long has a moderatly cool name thanks to his dad, and as you can see, he has garned some success because of it.
It goes deeper though. Our offense line was terrible, and was stocked with bad names. Jason Smith? And people wondered why he struggled, with a name like that, how could he not? Jason Brown, Jacob Bell. All boring bland names.
It takes a special player to be successful in spite of a fairly bland name, like Steven Jackson. Unfortunately we just haven't had guys who could overcome the burden of their bad names. That is why we need Jacoby Jones.

Re: Jacoby Jones??
I thought with Spags/Devaney gone we don't have to make threads anymore about vet players that were cut and no one else wants....
Save this years TO thread for the SeaChickens.....Rams are above that now !!!! #FisherKing

Re: Jacoby Jones??
To get this thread back to seriousness, I've been fascinated with Jones for a few years now. He has size and speed, but can't translate it to success on the field. There is a reason why he's the 4th pass option on a dominant run first to set up the pass offense... behind two white guys if I may say so.
He has some return skills, but many of our draftees this year have return ability, and one of our undrafted free agent aquisitions(the Corner from EKU) is a very good returner and was a Div. 1-AA Def player of the year candidate. I don't think we should look to bring in a guy who can only contribute on special teams when we brought in a lot of that talent already, and a cheaper price.I believe!

Re: Jacoby Jones??
Berg, i find your argument compelling, but the point by Fortuninerhater tips the balance. I Pead makes a big difference in this area. In addition, i hear that we were on the verge of signing linebacker Well Hung as a free agent.

Re: Jacoby Jones??
I don't know how much a good name helps out. Otherwise, Cadillac Williams would definitely have been our MVP last year.
