But like i said, If we did take Matthews i wouldn't hate it, just prefer Clowney at #2. But of course above all us, i hope for a trade down.
I absolutely agree with everything you said

Yes, its a fact that these players are or, in Robinson's case, are likely to be in the draft.

    However, the following are opinions:

    1. Jadeveon Clowney is the top player in the draft.
    2. Jadeveon Clowney is a better prospect than Jake Matthews.
    3. The Rams would be better off taking Clowney and an OT at #13, rather than Matthews and the BPA at #13.

If you don't understand the difference between a fact and an opinion, all I can say is... how sad for you.

If Fisher and Snead believe Clowney to be legit, I think they should take him with the pick. I've seen some of his tape, and he definitely shows flashes of an elite pass rusher. I'm no NFL scout though...

Great pass rushing DE's like Clowney, ala Mario Williams, only come around every so often. I would take the Ozzie Newsome approach, and take the best player available.

In such a scenario, something would have to be done with Chris Long.

They'd either have to trade him before the year is up or cut him at the end of the year. Can you imagine a defensive line of Quinn-Hayes-Long-Clowney on 3rd and long though, it would be absolutely devastating!

I know I wouldn't want to be the guy playing QB in that scenario. And it would probably turn Janoris Jenkins and Trumaine Johnson into instant pro-bowlers.

    Re: The Jadeveon Clowney Poll

Taking a third down defensive end with a first round pick? The only teams that can do that kind of thing are already perennial play off teams. The Rams aren't that. There are holes elsewhere on the team.

I'm all for taking the best player available, but the thing is Clowney isn't clearly the best player. If he was he would be a no brainer no.1 overall pick and that would be the end of the discussion as he would be off the board before the Rams drafted.
    HUbison and Mikey like this.

That's not entirely true, because some teams draft for need first.

So just because a particular player isn't taken with the first pick, it doesn't necessarily mean he isn't the best player.

I guess it really depends on systems too. Can Clowney play as an edge rusher in a 3-4 that would mean he would have to play some coverage every now and then?
