Jake Locker or Ryan Mallett in 2011
The Rams need to take care of business, pick Suh this year and start building a dominating defense. That said I believe next season we will be picking again in the top five. If so, who would you take as your future franchise QB? Jake Locker or Ryan Mallett and why?
Re: Jake Locker or Ryan Mallett in 2011
So we're going to be faceless for the future another whole season? Sounds smart.
Re: Jake Locker or Ryan Mallett in 2011
Not taking a franchise QB just does not seem like a smart idea. Our defense isn't THAT bad, they can keep us in the game for 3 quarters or so..then they wear out, but that's because our Offense isn't on the field very long. In this draft we need to load up on the Offensive side of the ball.
Re: Jake Locker or Ryan Mallett in 2011
I'm not willing to presume that the Rams will again be in the Top 5 selections next year.

Ok then, perhaps JRF was being overly optimistic, how about top 3?
Re: Jake Locker or Ryan Mallett in 2011
If we go as some have suggested a ball pounding defensive team then a QB could wait I guess, but FA needs to be where we get a QB IMO. There are teams that compete without a franchise QB and is the team ready to get one at this point? Especially when there isnt a TOP NOTCH QB ready to be takin 1rst OA.
Jake Locker 2011, lets get the team ready for him.

Smart would be taking a guy you can build a defense around rather then hopeing your new face of the future pans out...

Who's defense were you watching this year? We have a couple guys on defense that look promising but to say the whole D wasn't that bad, I don't think I would go that far...

Your still taking a risk with Suh...you still have to HOPE that he becomes a player you can build around. Just because he's dominant in college FB does NOT mean he will be that dominant in NFL. Could he be? Yes, but lets wait till he at least plays a down in the NFL before we say that we're going to build our Defense around him because for all we know, he could end up being a bust too.

I'm pretty sure we're building our defense around Chris Long and James Laurinatiis.
Hoping the new face of the future pans out? Are you assuming Suh pans out? I'd take Gerald McCoy over Suh.
Re: Jake Locker or Ryan Mallett in 2011
Watching Locker as a junior, I thought he had it all. He's not completely polished, but he should be after his senior year. Good size, strong, tough, skilled, athletic and smart, I would take him in a heartbeat if he was available in 2011. Well worth the wait IMO.

I agree. Depending on our offseason moves, and if we can stay healthy next year...we have a decent chance to win a number of games, and it may be enough to move us out of the Top 5.

BUT he's not a "winner" *rolls eyes*. Same reason people don't want Clausen, supposably.

Wow I can see you are a Clausen guy and thats OK. Next year you will be a Locker or Mallett guy. But you add Suh to Long and Laurinatiis and now you have something. As far as the last statement Mcoy over Suh its just plain assanine...
