Janoris Jenkins - would you want this guy at Pick #33 / #39
Janoris Jenkins - would you want this guy at Pick #33 / #39
He is an obvious 1st Round talent, but had to leave Florida to play at North Alabama.
His character has taken him off almost all teams boards. Right now the only two teams (supposedly) considering a first round pick on him are Bengals and Pats....
SI's Peter King and NFL Network's Albert Breer have heard the same. There's always a chance a big-time talent like Jenkins can overcome the odds, but he'll be removed from the majority of first-round boards around the league. After Jenkins admitted to continuing to do drugs at North Alabama following his release from Florida, he might be the biggest character risk in the draft.
If we get Richardson or Blackmon at #6 -- would you want to take a risk with this guy???
Does anyone know more about him? Most draft experts think he will go in the first half of Round 2
Please add more information about him if you can -- Here's all I know:
The 5'10", 193 lb corner has good instincts in tracking routes and the ball and plays bigger than his size would let on. He has solid hands to deflect or intercept a pass.

The only thing that changes is he'll have the money to buy better weed.

If Jeff Fisher even thinks of taking him, someone should hold up a photo of PacMan Jones.

I rather gamble on Cliff Harris with a 6th or 7th round pick, at least he doesn't have 4 kids from 3 different women already and is a great punt returner as well and wouldn't cost us a 2nd rounder. Before this past season many projected him as a 1st rounder.

If I were the Rams, I wouldn't take him in the first two rounds, no.
And the Patriots spending a first round pick on him would be a surprise to Boston beat writer Greg A. Bedard, who said on Twitter: "I would be shocked if Patriots took Jenkins in the first round, where they usually manage risk. In the second? Sure, possibly."

Re: Janoris Jenkins - would you want this guy at Pick #33 / #39
Its worth noting that, from a talent standpoint, Jenkins is a Top 50 player. I remember watching him when he was a UF. He was a real standout on the field. Great coverage and ball skills.
But in today's NFL, you can't invest a premium selection on a guy who is likely to engage in conduct that will get him suspended.
Its a shame that he's not mature enough to understand how lucky he is to have such talent.

So Rams pass on him #39 -- I would definitely take a Round 3 flier on him if we don't get any other CBs in first 3 picks ? agree ?
Doubt he gets past pick 60 though...

Re: Janoris Jenkins - would you want this guy at Pick #33 / #39
I think the question should be: what is the earliest pick that the team is willing to throw away a pick?
Because I'd say there's a better chance that this kid is bounced from football within a year or two, rather than ever translating his talent into the expectations of his draft spot.
As for me.......I'd be okay throwing away ("roll the dice", "take a gamble", choose your own phrase) a 5th round pick.Last edited by HUbison; -04-17-2012 at 11:50 AM.

Maurice Clarett and Richie Incognito both went in 3rd. Maybe the 3rd round is sort of a purgatory for 1st round talents with 7th round maturity.

Richtree-
He shut down AJ Green, Julio Jones, and Alshon Jeffery all in college.
Here is a video from youtube of his games vs Julio + AJ if it interests you:

Re: Janoris Jenkins - would you want this guy at Pick #33 / #39
The Rams are in such a state now that every pick is pretty valuable. Even the later round picks are too important to risk on a guy whose head isn't on straight. I'd rather have a solid back up or special teams player, right now, than risk a pick on a potential headache. Veteran teams with strong locker rooms are the teams that can risk this pick.
