Jared Cook in Free Agency anyone?
He requested a trade and did not get it...He is a Free agent at the end of the year so he is going to test the market (unless franchised) and he has a connection to Fisher
Cook is exactly what Bradford needs...Bradford was good in college with the athletic freak gresham at TE...Bradfords first year he made Illinois Mike and Billy Bajema look good
I dont think Kendricks is any good at all...Bradford favors the TE as his redzone target and kendricks just has not performed
Cook is an athletic freak in the mold of a Jermaine Gresham...Im thinking on the open market Cook's contract will be near Aaron Hernandez at 5 years 40 mil 16 mil guarenteed

Re: Jared Cook in Free Agency anyone?
Cooks contract won't even be close to Hernandez's deal. But yes, I've wanted Cook since I realized he was an FA. Huge, very fast, athletic pass catching TE. Provides a terrific weapon to attack the seams, and a great red-zone threat. GET HIM!!

Re: Jared Cook in Free Agency anyone?
I disagree if this guy hits the open market look what he has going for him
6-5 250lbs size
Downfield WR speed
Natural Pass catcher this guy will pluck the ball out the air and can be a match up nightmare in the slot
Too fast for LBs to big for DBs
He is not going to come cheap at all
And Laram your gunna be disappointed but the guy is an TERRIBLE blocker, you would be lucky if the guy showed any effort in his blocks...but the RED ZONE Reward outweighs the run game risk here

Re: Jared Cook in Free Agency anyone?
That is where I disagree again; did u see the buffalo Tennessee game? Cook's ability makes you leave a safety in centerfield which opened up runs for CJ2K...defenses have to respect his deep play ability...This is a guy that averages 13.3 yards per catch and he did 15.5 last year...He is 5th among TE's in yards per catch
there might be a disconnect but when I said he is getting close to Henandez deal I meant in terms of money 40 mil over 5 years is 8 mil a year...Cook is getting 8mil a year (i dont think it will be 5 years he is getting 2-3 years 4 years if he explodes down the strecth)
If you dont believe me i think his best comparison is Jermichael Finley: 6-5 250lbs pass catching TE (he drops too many) Cook is on pace to put almost exact same numbers Finley put up last year (except TDs but rodgers went off with TDs last year)...Finley got 2 years 15 mil which is 7.5 mil a year and that is considered a home team discount

Re: Jared Cook in Free Agency anyone?
Cook
year 1= 9 receptions 74 yards
year 2= 29 receptions & 361 years
Kendricks
Year 1 = 28 receptions & 352 yards
Year 2 = On pace for 40 receptions & 370 yards
What makes you think Cook is so much better than Kendricks after looking at each players first 2 seasons?

Re: Jared Cook in Free Agency anyone?
Size and playmaking ability...getting cook doesnt mean getting rid of Kendricks (who has underperformed thus far)
Wow thou cook looked really bad vs. chicago last night...all chicago did was punch the ball out
It would be another playmaking option building around Bradford and giving him as many options as possible will only help a QB that spreads the ball around just give him talent to throw to

Re: Jared Cook in Free Agency anyone?
Kendricks is also ten times the blocker Cook is.
Kendricks has underachieved as far as receiving, but he has been blocking really well all season.

Re: Jared Cook in Free Agency anyone?
Maybe just maybe you guys are right
Maybe we dont need to address the TE position this off-season because ive noticed Kendricks is not dropping important passes like he did last year...If kendricks blooms into a reliable weapon down the stretch who knows
I guess I need to give him a fair shake and cook hasnt exactly lit the world on fire the last couple weeks since i posted this

Re: Jared Cook in Free Agency anyone?
The point wasn't that Cook isn't good. It's that he and Kendricks are pretty much the same type of player. Kendricks has done a good job receiving this year, IMO his biggest weakness is downfield blocking. One of the weaknesses of the Rams is downfield blocking. If you want to turn a 5 yard route into a 20 yard gain, you need downfield blocking.
