11. St. Louis Rams – Jay Cutler, QB, Vanderbilt. Cutler landing in St. Louis is a long shot, especially with Gus Frerotte being tabbed as the No. 2 quarterback behind Marc Bulger. But sometimes there are guys sitting on the board that are simply too good to pass up, and that'll be the situation here if Cutler falls out of the top 10. Having two quality QBs is always a good problem to have, and with Bulger's health issues over his career – and the fact that he turns 30 next year – it's not too early to starting thinking for the future.

I feel sure we would trade out of the position before taking Cutler. With the Ravens just two spots down chomping at the bit, I think they'd give us an offer we couldn't refuse.

If Cutler is there at 11, I agree we need to look at options for trading down. I too think that Baltimore is a possibility but they wouldn't give their 2nd for the move and they don't have a 3rd only a 4th the 111th pick which may not be enough for us. I think the vikes are an option to trade with, they could give us their 1st (17), 3rd (83) & 4th (115) to move to our 11th. At 17 I would hope that Carpenter would be there for us to snatch up. The the extra 3rd & 4th could be very valuable to us with some of the depth concerns I have on both lines.

According to Yahoo's mock, the Rams are passing on Haloti Ngata to take Cutler. Yuck.

I don't think so. They tried the first round QB option before in Boller, and from what I've heard, there are a number of Boller/Cutler comparisons floating around. They need a veteran to compete with Kyle, not another rookie.

We have the 30th ranked Defense, we don't have the luxury of taking a QB.

A lot of good skill players (over-abundance) only goes so far. For example, we have Marshall Faulk and Stephen Jackson, yet our Running game sucks because our interior line is old and can't run block.
Do we take another good RB? or fix the problems on the line.

I think that's more of a function of how they dealt with their situation than simply being in the situation itself. It would have worked out wonderfully had they (1) tagged Brees, traded him, and gotten some compensation out of him; or (2) signed Brees long term and traded Rivers for some compensation.

This is simple math. There are 3 blue-chip QBs (Leinert, Cutler, Young). There are 3 teams ahead of us who WILL take a QB (Titans, Raiders, Cardinals).

Cutler will not be there at #11.

Well like I've said and pissed everybody off before. Bulger is not going to take us to the bowl, so if by some weird turn of events Cutler is there......You take him!

I myself feel, Bulger will be gone in a year or two. He was a Martz boy and his wrecked body may not withstand too much more. Cutler could be the man (if he is there). But the Rams need to start looking for a QB soon. Fitz will get a look this year and maybe a good look , but QB will be an issue soon!
