Jeff Samardzija
"14. Jeff Samardzija, WR, Notre Dame (6-4½, 215) | previous: 13
Super hands and concentration with outstanding speed-to-size ratio. He caught a touchdown pass in the final five games of the season."
Just heard on ESPN radio that he has signed a deal with the Cicago Cubs for something like 8 Million over 4 or 5 years.
So hes not comming to the NFL.

Re: Jeff Samardzija
thats not a bad idea... should he somehow be a huuuge bust in the MLB and is let go by the cubs, the rams would have sole rights to him. in a perfect world i guess.

Re: Jeff Samardzija
i believe you only have the rights to him for one full year. the odds of him dropping out of baseball within one year are very very low, and probably require a major injury, which in all liklihood means he isnt playing football anyway.

Re: Jeff Samardzija
The decision actually makes a lot of sense. The money is better in baseball, it's guaranteed as I understand it, and he's not going to go through the physical punishment of professional football.

Re: Jeff Samardzija
He also has said that he prefers baseball. As he has played it since he was very young.

then they would draft him in the 7th round or something so that they would have the soul rights to negotiate should he change his mind.
