Tony Richardson has confirmed to SI.com that he has agreed to terms with the New York Jets. The financial terms were not disclosed, but the deal is for one year.
Richardson, a three-time Pro Bowl selection, is latest addition to a revamped Jets' offense; and he will be counted on to pave the way for Thomas Jones in the running game.
Originally an undrafted free agent signed by the Dallas Cowboys, Richardson spent the first 11 seasons of his NFL career with the Kansas City Chiefs before suiting up for the Minnesota Vikings the past two seasons.
Would have been a nice addition as a situational lead blocker, but really not a huge area of need.
Re: Jets sign FB Tony Richardson
i dont think Richardson was seriously coming here
the Rams are making a bit of a youth movement, and Richardson would be a step in the opposite direction.
Re: Jets sign FB Tony Richardson
Very true tomahawk, and it was apparent last year that Linehan is not the biggest fan of the traditional I formation. It just would have been very nice for Jax and Bulger to have that extra blocking.
Hey, Neal's still available I believe.

The JETS are turning into the Redskins of the AFC.:x

I also think that we spent so much on Leonard (a second round pick and resultant contract), that we would be foolish not to give him another shot at the FB slot.

I think if he bulks up some more, he can be a good FB.

And that's the key, anyone hear anything about him to see if he's going to make a full switch to FB? Last year they didn't really let him either go after being a tailback or a fullback, and so I think he suffered in trying to be too many things. I would love for him to become the next Mike Alstott.

Really?? The Tin Man?
Re: Jets sign FB Tony Richardson
I don't see us going for a second round full back. I hope we do something with Leonard.
Re: Jets sign FB Tony Richardson
I think he was kidding Moose.
Re: Jets sign FB Tony Richardson
Though hes not a FB, we did just sign Anthony Becht from Tampa, hes a capable blocker that can fill in on lots of lead situations. Say bye bye to Byrd.
