Johnny Manziel goes No. 1 to Houston in Mel's first 2014 mock draft

So that did not take long... like I have said the hype on him will be huge. Watching ESPN and there is Mel talking about his first mock draft of 2014 and he has Johnny Manzie going one overall. I Googled Mel and got this page for "insiders" so I can't post the mock. This is great news for the Rams, let the hype machine roll.

I'd expect Bridgewater to have a better career, but Manziel isn't to far off and offers a lot of advantages to marketing the franchise in Houston. As there's several very good QBs but most analysts feel no truly great ones those extra advantages have to be appealing. But yeah, that would be VERY good for the Rams.

Here's a blurb on Kiper's selection for the Rams at No. 2

After the Texans, Kiper sees the St. Louis Rams making Texas A&M two-for-two on picks in the Draft, with tackle Jake Matthews completing the sweep of the first two overall selections. Kiper does point out that the Rams trading out of this position makes a lot of sense, but if they don't, finding a healthy replacement for Jake Long at the left tackle position could be a great move.
P.S. I will never ever ever ever ever ever pay ESPN (or any other website) for access to "insiders" analyses.

agreed, and I will never believe Kiper and McShay's draft Projections unitl a week before. They live on hearsay and speculation ---- I think true talent evaluators already have totally different projections than "ESPN" and its takes until April for ESPN to catch up to the truth...

So, if the Rams draft a bunch of Texas A&M players, does that mean that the fans in the EJD will be able to start calling themselves the 12th Man?

Mel's first 2014 mock draft Rams

    Jake Matthews, Texas A&M OT

Rams general manager Les Snead has already said that he'll take calls on this draft slot, which makes plenty of sense given the fact that the three teams drafting directly after St. Louis need a quarterback. So if you want a certain QB, you might be trying to work out a deal with the Rams to assure you get him. That said, I can't project a trade, and Matthews would be a tremendous fit for the Rams, who need to bring in an upgrade at left tackle this offseason given the uncertainty regarding Jake Long's health. Matthews has proved capable of dominating on both the left and right side, in fact, and comes with more assurances in that regard than the tackles drafted at the top of the board last season. At tackle, I also think Greg Robinson could compete with Matthews to be the first one taken, and I don't think it's out of the question that St. Louis takes a QB or top defensive lineman.

    Mike Evans, Texas A&M WR

Last year the Rams added Tavon Austin, a player who is explosive in space and hard to cover due to his quickness and straight-line speed. In Evans, they get a mammoth wide receiver who can't be covered capably because he can simply box out defenders for passes and get to the ball at a point higher than anybody around him. Johnny Manziel benefited greatly from his presence; so can Sam Bradford. We've seen basketball players like Julius Thomas, Antonio Gates and Jimmy Graham transition well to the NFL after doing very little in college football. Well, Evans was a basketball player and was dominant in college football. Speed is a concern, but it can't ruin the value of his size advantage

Looks like my first one. Rambos beta mock draft 2014

I'd be shocked yet very happy if Mel's first round went like that. 2nd-4th FS/G/DT

Kipper must have been studying Nick's mock too as he had Matthews & Evans here as well (1 and 2).

Well, you and Nick then. Great minds thinks alike?

Manziel is a project at best, he benefits off getting out of the pocket and having receivers bail him out. Once teams scheme around that through simple DE/OLB contain, he's gonna have to rely on his susceptible arm strength (which ended with disastrous results)

Who are these "true talent evaluators" and do you believe they post their evaluations on the internet for free?

Uninformed Gil Brandt named JFF his #1 prospect.
    Bridgewater is #5.

Same Brandt that had Bradford #10 on his qbs under 30 prior to the season. Also call Brandt. Old or senile all you want but uninformed? Yeah that he is not.
