    Julian Peterson to be released?

    per rotoword
KJRM in Seattle reported Friday that the Seahawks will soon release linebacker Julian Peterson.
Peterson has reportedly declined a decrease in salary. He is due $6.5 million this year, and is signed through 2012. If released, the seven-year, $54 million deal Peterson signed would amount to a three-year, $23 million deal. Peterson is in decline, but his versatile skill set will be attractive on the open market.
that could be a nice addition

I'd be interested. It takes a mix of all kinds in this era of the NFL.

me too...he is a great player who is still playing at a very high level

let him bounce from the ***** to the seahawks to us

We definately have the Cap to pull him in now that we freed up all that space with Pace and Holt gone..and this would definately improve our LB corps..

I can tell you one thing..Ken Flajole, being a former LB coach, will definately be pushing for us to add Peterson if he's cut

It'd be an awesome pick-up but surely others teams would want his skill set too? I'd be extremely happy if we signed him, took J.Smith and a WR or CB in round 2

I wanted Peterson when he was an FA a few years back, i'd love for him to come to the rams. I think if he did sign, i would start to lean more towards drafting Crabtree

you can shut this thread down...
JP was traded to the lions for Cory Redding

Seahawks acquired DT Cory Redding from the Lions in exchange for LB Julian Peterson.
It's believed that Seattle will also receive a fifth-round pick. Redding, 28, was entering the third-year of a seven-year, $49 million deal, but he has agreed to restructure as part of the trade. Though he finished a disappointing season on IR with knee and groin injuries, Redding is expected to replace Rocky Bernard's production at defensive tackle.

I was thinking that too, hopefully that is what it means.

Could mean the opposite. Could mean that the Lions are beefing up defensively and go with Curry. They lost a few games by slim margins last year.

IMO we need two good LB's with Spoon and being greedy I wanted Peterson and Curry. Good news bad news. Good news for me I do think this will cause Detroit to pass on Curry. The bad news for me is we don't get a shot at both.

    Nice call,SB99.

I'd say the trade for Peterson makes it almost certain that Detroit will leave The Exalted One alone.

And there was much rejoicing in Curryland
