Justin Blackmon: Browns don't want to draft WR at No. 4
"According to the Canton Repository, Browns president Mike Holmgren "would rather not burn" the No. 4 overall pick on a wide receiver.
The only receiver in the 2012 draft considered by some to be worth a top-five pick is Oklahoma State's Justin Blackmon. After selecting the best player available at No. 4, the Browns could wait for a wide receiver like Kendall Wright (Baylor), Rueben Randle (LSU) or Stephen Hill (Georgia Tech) at the No. 22 pick."
could be smoke and mirrors but man i hope this one is true.
its not letting me post a link but the page is from Roto World
Re: Justin Blackmon: Browns don't want to draft WR at No. 4
Did Holmgren have his poker face on? Sunglasses on?
Re: Justin Blackmon: Browns don't want to draft WR at No. 4
There is absolutely no reason to believe any of this dribble at this point. I can not think of a single business situation where anyone gives away proprietary/confidential information for no reason. disinformation? Sure, that happens all the time.

Cleveland is in full spin mode.
Re: Justin Blackmon: Browns don't want to draft WR at No. 4
Holmgren, historically, doesn't draft WR in the first round. Kind of like Fisher with Tackles
Re: Justin Blackmon: Browns don't want to draft WR at No. 4
Yeah I don't trust this. I am sold the Browns will draft Blackmon.
Re: Justin Blackmon: Browns don't want to draft WR at No. 4
It's the season of disinformation, so who knows what to make of that comment.
But I have been mocking Richardson to the Browns @ 4 and a WR to them @ 22 simply because I think there will be value at the WR position when that second first-round pick rolls around. They have a chance to add two talented offensive weapons by going this route.
If they go Blackmon @ 4, and want to add a RB, they probably aren't getting great value @ 22 and would have to wait until their second round pick. Of course, teams like the Rams, Colts, or Bucs could nab a runner at the top of round two, and even some teams picking near the end of round one could deplete the stockpile.
Then again, it's possible the Browns don't view RB as a big need if they want a committee approach with Hardesty. There are just so many factors to consider.

Actually you know what, that is true. I completely forgot they have that 22nd pick. Which is perfect for probably Stephen Hill/Reuben Randle

That is what I was thinking.
If I were the Browns, I would see much more value in taking Richardson and then a WR with the other 1st round pick.
The wide receivers available at #22 are arguably better than the running backs that would be available, while Trent Richardson is arguably the better prospect than Blackmon.
Re: Justin Blackmon: Browns don't want to draft WR at No. 4
Maybe the Browns really don't think he warrants the 4th pick. Not everyone is going to see the draft board the same way. Now... would they go around telling everyone this? Well it IS the Browns we're talking about here.
Re: Justin Blackmon: Browns don't want to draft WR at No. 4
I would like 2 draft 2 Wide Recivers in the first 2 rounds !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (barring Trent Richardson is gone).....
Here are my 3 perfect scenerios
#1 option (best case scenerio)
J. Blackmon Round 1
S. Hill Round 1/2 (trade up)
#2 option (trade down for extra pick in top 40)
S. Hill/M.Floyd (round 1)
M. Sanu (round 2)
extra pick on RB/OL/CB/DT/OLb
#3 option (if Richardson is available, and no Blackmon)
T.Richardson (stay at #6)
M. Sanu (#34)
Marvin Jones (Round 3)
Re: Justin Blackmon: Browns don't want to draft WR at No. 4
The browns don't want a WR at number 4 eh? Maybe it's to let teams know they want a WR, but don't want to pick one at 4 and are willing to trade back if that team wants to move up for a player they covet, like Claiborne or Richardson.

Same story here-- Browns werent willing to part with their 2 1st round picks either....
Re: Justin Blackmon: Browns don't want to draft WR at No. 4
I think they're still fuming about losing out on RG3, so they want to give us some false hope of landing Justin Blackmon.
Re: Justin Blackmon: Browns don't want to draft WR at No. 4
I kind of hope they take Blackmon at #4. That would mean the Bucs are the last barrier between us and the most dominant secondary in the NFL. MoMo17 will be welcomed here.
