Re: Justin Blackmon or Matt Kalil?
I guess it depends if we can get a Offensive Tackle in Free Agency....I think McKenzie (Giants) -- Ferguson (Jets), and one or 2 other guys I can't remember.....
If we can't get any free agents on the offensive line -- we may end being forced to go with Kalil because there may be a chance to sign multiple skill players in the off-season.....
I really don't want to go this route...but each day this team is looking worse....

Re: Justin Blackmon or Matt Kalil?
Honestly, I think I'd be good with either. There's a part of me that has a bad taste in my mouth about the possibility of using another Top Five pick on an OT so soon after Smith, but the tackles have not played well this year. My feelings about the WR position are well documented on this board. Might just come down to the evaluations and grades.

Re: Justin Blackmon or Matt Kalil?
Ive never seen this Kalil play. But if he is the next Joe Thomas, if he is this good.? It definitely changes things with Blackmon in mind. Ryan Broyles would be a good consolation prize.? I think he would blow Amendola, Salas and co, out of the water.? This way the Rams are playing it to Sam Bradford's strength's.

Re: Justin Blackmon or Matt Kalil?
Ugh..I feel like we had this conversation three years ago =(.
I'd rather an OT in the 2nd round if there's a good one to be found there.

Re: Justin Blackmon or Matt Kalil?
If we are going to pick an OT in the 2nd round, I would consider Nate Potter or Matt Reynolds.
However, picking Matt Kalil, and then picking Juron Criner or Dwight Jones (hugely underrated) in the 2nd round, and possibly grabbing Broyles in the third. Huge overload in WR again, but that would upgrade our WR corps from one of the worst in the league to the best.
WR1: Lloyd
WR2: Jones
WR3: Broyles
WR4: Amendola
WR5: Salas
*Picking up another WR in the 3rd would be completely optional.

Re: Justin Blackmon or Matt Kalil?
I love the idea of adding Broyles but, given the timing and type of injury he suffered, his rookie year will pretty much be a "Redshirt" season. If he slips past the 4th round, though, I'd grab him in a heartbeat.
Welcome to the St. Louis Rams!

Re: Justin Blackmon or Matt Kalil?
We can argue Tackle vs. WR in round 1 all day....bottom line is one of the two has to be found in free agency (hopefully before the draft).
Same can be said for OLB/DT/RB2 -- We can get a really good player at #34 or #35 in the second round -- but then we have to find the other in free agency.....

Kalil and other line changes before skilled player additions will really benefit us.

Re: Justin Blackmon or Matt Kalil?
He will definitely not grow as a QB, with another season of beatings.? I think Id much rather see him in an offense, that features more 3 step drops and running outside the numbers for next season, just so he can find his feet again. ? I thought McD called a much better game plan last week for Bradford.?

Re: Justin Blackmon or Matt Kalil?
I'll take Blackmon. No questions asked about it. Sam would be slinging the thing left and right if he had 3 talented WR's like Lloyd, Blackmon and Amendola/Salas. That would actually be a strength for once in many years. The LT position is hard to fill, but at the same time I think its overrated. Sure the Dolphins have Jake Long, but what did it do for them? They are terrible on offense. The Browns have Joe Thomas? And? Yup, another horrible offense with an amazing LT.
With 3 great WR's, the line won't have to block as long. Sam wont have to hold the ball as long. Plus, we've been playing behind by big margins a lot this year. That means other teams DE's can focus on just pass rushing. If we can build a nice offense this off season, that alone will decrease the pressure a lot.
I still think Saffold can play LT.
