Re: Justin Blackmon's skills have diminished in recent weeks.
Surely, you understand the message is not "speed doesn't matter", but rather "speed is not everything".
But maybe I assume too much. If speed were everything, Demarcus Van Dyke would be the greatest CB in the NFL. Stanford Routt, Fabian Washington, DRC, Tyvon Branch, Darrant Williams, Michael Waddell, Justin King, Patrick Peterson, & Jon Joseph. There you have the 10 fastest CBs (per their Combine) in the NFL over the past decade. Some of them are good. Some of them are far from good, even downright bad.
So like I said.......speed is not everything.Last edited by HUbison; -04-17-2012 at 10:01 AM.

"That's damn peculiar, Spock."

Re: Justin Blackmon's skills have diminished in recent weeks.
This is getting laughable.
Let me be as clear as I can - I stated that Wright's Combine time was not an accurate measurement of his on-field speed. This was due to an issue in how he started the evaluation. In my latest response, I even quoted a scout that agreed. That's different than saying the the field at Indianapolis as a whole is an inaccurate measure of speed, which is the stance you tried to attribute to me.
When you're done failing at the "gotcha" game and would actually like to take a stab at discussing the larger points I've made rather than ignoring them, let me know.

This thread's got more straw men than a Wizard of Oz convention.

Man, seeing this made me a little upset. Darrant Williams had a bright future for the Broncos. Probowl caliber CB at only 24, before being slain. Gone to soon like Sean Taylor.
Getting back to Blackmon....nah I dont think I got anything else to add, Nick is pretty much on point.

I always love the hype machine driven by the media, where players move up or down the week before the draft for no reason.

You guys are making me feel so much better about the eventual Blackmon pick.
Turf Show Times does nothing except bash the guy and declare him not worthy. Everything i see on the kid shows potential and i think he will be a great weapon for Sam.
Go Rams

Re: Justin Blackmon's skills have diminished in recent weeks.
I blame this phenomenon on Madden. While it is the closest simulation we have to the real thing, it is near impossible to accurately reflect several key aspects of the wide receiver position. The SPEED stat is king in Madden, to a point where players "rated" substantially lower than others actually perform much greater. I haven't played in awhile(this years edition), but when I did Desean Jackson was one of the best wide receivers on the game imo. I would choose him over Andre, Fitz, and V Jax hands down.
So sure, Blackmon won't help Rams fans win Madden games, but Donnie Avery helped me out a ton back in the day. I guess you have to ask yourself what is more important, a video game or the real thing
