    K. Britt, A. Smith In For Weekend Visits

Per Jim Thomas, the Rams are bringing former Titan WR Kenny Britt, and DT Antonio Smith to Rams park this weekend.

They visited this week with guards Davin Joseph and Daryl Coledge without a deal.

Re: K. Britt, A. Smith In For Weekend Visits

Britt hasn't done much since 2010, but amazingly, he is still only gonna be 26 in September.

He basically brings the same skill set as Brian Quick, but he has shown some ability to get into the end zone, with 9TD in 2010.

If the Rams can sign his to a short term, prove yourself, low cost deal, he could be a decent addition to compete in camp, if he has matured and can keep his nose clean.

Fisher knows him well, so it makes sense that a reunion is possible.

Smith, 31 has been a starting 3-4 DE throughout his career, but the 6-4, 290 pound would be a swing type player with the Rams, backing up inside and at DE.

he's a good pass rusher, with 12 over the last two years, good numbers for a 3-4 DE.

If they signed him would the Rams not spend a draft pick on a wide-out? That would put 7 on our roster.

Re: K. Britt, A. Smith In For Weekend Visits

Les Snead has already said they are happy with their young WR, and that adding even more youth would not be wise. He also kniows that the wide open offense plan is DEAD, making WR early, at least round one, far less probable.

They have looked at Jordan Mathews, maybe hoping he drops to round two, and will look throughout this deep draft for guys to compete. Plus guys get hurt.

Fans need to get off this idea of a team built like "the greatest show". It woudn't work too well against teamslike the Niners, Arizona and Seattle, with big pass rushes.

You don't see the Seahawks going big on WR , despite it being a weakness there. SUrely you cannot count on Harvin being 100% all year.

They know the path to winning, and Fisher intends to follow that path. They added the WR they think they need to just keep developing, and seem to be looking for vetern OL help, making OLB, and CB a particular focus in round one.

Right or wrong, that is their plan, and it makes sense, as far as competing in the NFL West.

Kenny Britt - WR - Titans

NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports free agent Kenny Britt will visit the Rams on Friday.
Britt, 25, was drafted with the 30th overall pick by coach Jeff Fisher and the Titans in 2009 and played two years for Fisher, posting easily his best two seasons to date. Injuries, off-field issues, and a general lack of interest on it have derailed Britt ever since. The Rams don't have much money to spend, but Britt would only command a cheap, one-year deal. Britt is 6-foot-3 and 223 pounds.

    Britt drawing interest, taking time
Posted by Mike Florio on March 13, 2014, 10:09 AM EDT
    Britt AP

In the early weeks of the 2011 season, it appeared that Kenny Britt was destined to become one of the best receivers in the game. With 136 receiving yards in Week One and 135 in Week Two, Britt was on his way.

And then an ACL tear killed Kenny. Or at least his career.

A Pacman-style slew of off-field incidents didn’t help matters. Even though Britt has matured, his game hasn’t recovered. Lost and forgotten in 2013, Britt caught 11 passes for 96 yards — for the entire season.

He’s now a free agent, and the expectation is that he’ll take his time in selecting a new team. Per a league source, four or five franchises are interested.

The Redskins reportedly are keen on Kenny. The coach who drafted him in Tennessee, Jeff Fisher, currently runs the Rams — and needs receivers.

Then there are the Patriots, who have developed a pipeline to Piscataway in recent years, gobbling up former Rutgers players. Britt played for Bill Belichick’s BFF at Rutgers, which would attract New England’s interest.

It nevertheless remains a buyer’s market for wideouts, which doesn’t bode well for a guy who hasn’t played well in three years.

O-M-G -------> I heard AV scream over here in New Jersey......

Britt told me Jets, Raiders, Rams and Cowboys are his options.....and he visited the Rams first.....

I will be in St Louis with the New Jersey crewww if it goes through....

Don't ever compare Quick to Britt ---> Britt is leaps and bounds ahead as an athelte and actually has had success in the NFL..

Quick has been nothing more than a body on the field to this point

I love snead, but i put ZERO faith in anything he says publicly right now about the roster. Why in the world would he tell anyone what he really thinks heading into free agency and the draft. The fact that Snead says he doesnt think he needs another young wide receiver means absolutely nothing.

This time of year until the ink is on the paper, its hard to believe anything. It keeps turning me into a Dr. Evil line anytime I hear something rumorish from here to the draft.....Riiiiggghhhhtttt.

Also enough already with making this the St. Louis Titans!!! (a little tongue in cheek, but still :-)

As always, there's things he could do for us, but it depends on the price. If we don't sign Britt I'm completely at peace with it. LOL.

But I'd like to see a solid vet brought in that can help the young kids develop. We are woefully young at WR, and it would help to have a wiley vet to help learn the kids the ins and outs.

Jerricho Cotchery could be a good guy for a one year deal...as a vet to help out....I kinda like the idea of youth everywhere though....you don't want old WRs, or old RBs
