    Last night on ESPN

Kiper and McShay did a mock draft together, alternating picks.

    2. Sammy Watkins

    13. Zack Martin

    I like it...

I'll take it, IF, The rams know for sure he will be our franchise LT and aren't making it as a risk pick. Of course anything can happen, but rather they be sure when they make the pick.

That's a good point, and honestly, I don't think he can. I think he could be a good-to-great OG in the NFL, but I'm not sold on him as a LT.

I agree with that. He might be able to work as a RT, but I think his best position is OG.

I'm not sure anyone still claims he'll be a LT. Since the combine I think he's been mentioned almost solely as a guard or RT prospect.

What's good about Martin is that like Barrett Jones and Saffold, he technically could fill in at 4 spots on the line.

    Martin:

    Serviceable LT
    Very good RT
    Excellent OG

At the collegiate level, yea; but I'd say that's overrating him at each of those positions at the next level.

Oops didn't know that. Then definitely pass on him at 13 and take a safety instead. When is Morgan Moses predicted to go? We can maybe trade down get Moses

    Re: Last night on ESPN

I actually like Zack Martin, and would not be mad if the Rams went towards this position in the draft. The only thing I'm scared about is Schottenheimer. Why would we take another WR in Sammy Watkins who needs plays designed for him to be fully utilized? I'm not saying Watkins isn't a guy that'll line up outside the numbers and run regular routes and win, but to be fully utilized, he's going to be designed on reverses, bubble screens, and YAC routes. We seemed to have enough trouble trying to find a guy in a spot like that last year (Tavon Austin) and I don't see it changing much.

I'd rather we take a more traditional WR like Mike Evans who will simply line up at "X" WR and do his work by running a regular route and out-jumping a DB for a ball. If we had a more capable OC I'd love to see Watkins and Austin as well as Bailey on the field at the same time. It's a shame his limitations will cause players to "bust".

As for Martin, I'd like the pick. He's a guy who has short arms so people want to plug him in at OG in the NFL. It's a perfect fit because he can play OG whilst we have Jake Long or he can kick out to OT and be effective there as well.. He's similar to Riley Reiff who the Lions drafted a few years ago and was pigeon-holed as an OG because of his short arms but he's done a fine job at LT.
