Jones couldn't even get on the field last year; I don't know that I'd feel very confident in the idea of him opening the season at left tackle in the event that Long isn't healthy.

That seems like a solid plan to me, but I really don't like the idea of having this high pick from the Redskins and not coming away with a Top 3-5 prospect in this class. It just seems like a waste to me.

That was my biggest takeaway from this thread, yes.

    Go Rams!
Certainly an important part in the positional situation of the chess match, where Saffold will be.

We've been blessed with another chance at a #2 pick. Why not come away with a blue chip player who can be the best at his position for 10 years... Why take just a "decent-good" prospect when we can have a superb one? IMO it's not worth moving down to #8 because what happens if these guys are gone:

    Clowney
    Manziel
    Bridgewater
    Matthews
    Robinson
    Watkins
    Bortles

Then we're stuck taking an OLB when maybe it's not worth it? Or a S at #8 where the value is absolutely terrible.. Or even a CB that has yet to distinguish himself as a top 10 pick?

I'll happily pass and take one of the best players in maybe the past 5 or so drafts. Thanks. (Players I'm referring to: Matthews, Robinson, Clowney, Watkins...)

Your premise - that there is such a significant drop off after the top 5 or so picks - might prove to be entirely incorrect.

If we could trade back to #8, draft Lewan, then draft Pryor at #13, I'd consider that a perfect round.

I personally would be fine missing out on those prospects if Lewan and a future 1st round pick is what we get in return.

Fair enough. I think there is a decent drop-off after Matthews and Robinson to Lewan. Notice how 2 weeks ago Lewan was a "mehhhh" 1st rounder and after the guy runs a 4.9 he's suddenly not far behind at all and may potentially be better? Yeah...

Agree, if the Rams are going to draft an OT I'm hoping it's Robinson or Matthews

I don't remember Lewan ever being a "mehhh" 1st rounder.

I really think if you dont come away with one of the following players in Clowney, Robinson, Matthews or even Watkins it would be disapponting. Its time to make a pick or don't trade down past 6... Not a fan of moving back to 8...
