Let's talk 2nd round pick
OK, there is so many talk with our first pick, lets talk about our 2nd round pick.
Let's say we picked a DE with our 1st. Our logical choice for 2nd round is OT.
Let's just say some or one of the definite 1st rounder takes a meteoric fall (i.e. last year with Alan Branch and Paul Posluzny), who would you say will make you say:
"Heck with a need for OT in the 2nd round, I will grab this guy and go OT in the 3rd"
My choice would be probably Dan Connor, maybe Lawrence Jackson,
but definitely Matt Ryan.
Dan Connor will probably go I say 15 -28.
Lawrence Jackson has come up of late looking like in the 20-30 position.
Matt Ryan is all over the place but most site have him going in the 1st.
(Note: Let's get realistic, don't say someone that almost have no chance being there like Glenn Dorsey)
We will create such an onslaught against humanity that our enemies will take generations before ever thinking of attacking us again.

WR.....speedy WR. I don't know which one right now, but our offense is begging for a speedy impact WR.

Re: Let's talk 2nd round pick
One strategy I haven't seen discussed much is to see if the Rams can get another 2nd round pick. Given the depth at OT in this draft and our plethora of needs, I wouldn't mind seeing us pass on a future draft pick to move up this year if it were possible.
That said, my answer to your question is this -- the Rams need talent. Period. You take playmakers if they're there. We'll work the rest out later.

Re: Let's talk 2nd round pick
Maybe one of the big-time receivers like Sweed, Doucet, or Kelly (if he declares). Or maybe a DT like Balmer would be considered a nice grab in the 2nd. But nothing wrong with your suggestions of Conner or Jackson either.

Re: Let's talk 2nd round pick
If we take a DE in the 1st, I'm leaning towards a SS or LB in the 2nd. I'm not familiar with the prospects. Who might you guys think would be some good choices at that spot?
Although, OT in the 2nd makes sense as well, I'd probably start looking there later unless there was someone you just couldn't pass up."...and a great new warrior emerged from the many, to carry the torch, and his name was Rammin' Jackson...and a new era had begun! Deffo a Strong Safety.
Chavous got burnt all year and was embarrising at times. Some depth at O-line would also be an option here.

Re: Let's talk 2nd round pick
We need a quick SS. I hated it when a running back would get past every player and our safeties couldnt catch up to them. it made me sad...

Re: Let's talk 2nd round pick
The better value is LB because there is no SS worth it there IMO (maybe if you move DeCoud to SS). Erin Henderson and Jerod Mayo are two great Jr. LB's who could do alot. Then get Carl Nicks or a tackle like that in the third.

Re: Let's talk 2nd round pick
If the SS/CB from OU Reggie Smith is there we should deffinitely take him. He's very versatile and a hard hitter.A speedy wide-out is a need but Hawaii's Davone Bess declared for Hawaii and he would be an amazing slot reciever with Holt and Bruce.

Re: Let's talk 2nd round pick
this is assuming the chillar isnt signed right? i like our 3 line backer line up we have (including chillar)
i dunno about our 2nd round pick. we have so much to improve. i would say we get priority (OT) however, if we get one in the free agency, then i would say a SS. wide receiver we MIGHT be able to retrieve in FA also
EDIT:
Dont we also have another pick in the 2nd for Curtis?

Re: Let's talk 2nd round pick
I'll bang the offensive tackle trum all day.
Not only does the area need to be adressed through free agency, valuable pieces need to be added via the draft.
If all of the second-teir OL talent is gone, then you have to think hard about a Speed Reciever. I'd love Mario Manningham.

Re: Let's talk 2nd round pick
I think a second is a bit high. I think reasonable compensation for this sort of stuff would be a third. But we've been screwed over in this department before. Though, he was arguably the highest paid, and most successful FA WR this season. You could make a case for at least a third.

Re: Let's talk 2nd round pick
I say offensive line assuming we draft Chris Long. I wouldn't mind it if we drafted Jake Long in the first though. We definetly need depth on the o-line. We can't afford to have a season like this years or we will win 3 more games.

Re: Let's talk 2nd round pick
If Doucet is there we should get him. He has good size at 6'1 and great speed. He makes great catches and runs good routes. He could be the next holt especially if he learns from holt.
