Linehan on the draft

Linehan also said there's a "very serious" chance the Rams could take a quarterback, even though they're set with Marc Bulger and Gus Frerotte, who signed from Miami. He said there are three quarterbacks worthy of going that high, Vince Young of Texas, Jay Cutler of Vanderbilt and Matt Leinart of Southern California.

Of course, there is a chance none will be available when the Rams pick.

"Whether you like it or not, or if it makes sense on paper, it's hard to get your hands on players that can be great in this business," Linehan said. "We feel strongly enough about one of those guys and if he's there and falls wherever he falls, I think that it is a big possibility that we'll take one.

"I'm not just saying that as a smoke screen, they are what they are and you can't deny that."

Linehan said the Rams would be willing to trade up or down, if the scenario is right for the team, but added that the draft isn't "fantasy football."

Rams set the table and made a trade with the Denver, picked up a 3rd.

Re: Linehan on the draft

The funny thing is if the Rams were talking up Chris Long everyone on here would be in good graces and downplay any chance of it being a smokescreen. If we take Dorsey on saturday, I will hate to be the one to say "I told you so."

Over the past week and a half or so, I’ve read in several places that the Rams would do well to get a receiver in the draft’s first round next weekend. The opinions came on the tail of Ted Ginn Jr.’s long-awaited pro day workout, which was attended by a pretty big contingent of the St. Louis coaching staff, including head man Scott Linehan. Now, I wouldn’t be surprised to see Ted Ginn Jr. go 13th to the Rams, but if there’s one thing the team is not in need of right now, it’s options in the passing game.
Quote:
The Rams will have to settle for this playmaker. In all honesty, they hope for a sudden slip by Amobi Okoye or Alan Branch to fill their biggest need at defensive tackle.
Replace Alan Branch with Adam Carriker, and voila!

There's no proof that the Rams wouldn't have taken Ginn, but the coincidences are eerie.

Someone should break the news to Linehan that Frerotte signed a contract at the begining of April with Minnesota. They should also tell him they signed Trent Green to be Bulgers backup. Maybe they can have a get to know the team party and the players can all wear name tags for Linehan.

Re: Linehan on the draft

He (RAMBOS ) was giving LINEHANS statement the other year before the draft , which caused denver to move up and give us a pick thinking we were taking CUTLER , and last year when miami took GINN.JR leaving CARRIKER to fall to us .

Close two years ago, my point. Just because the coach,GM say they want a guy if he is there means nothing.
