Re: *LIVE* ClanRam Moderator Mock Draft!
We listen in as the Commissioner approaches the podium....
"With the first pick in the 2006 NFL ClanRam Mod Draft, the Houston Texans select...."

Reggie Bush, RB, USC, 5'11", 201 (3/2/85)
Don't fool yourself, if the Texans had their way, they'd trade this spot off to the Titans or Jets. However, barring that improbabilty, they really have no choice but pick up Bush. He is the BPA in the draft, and could be the most dynamic offensive player the NFL has seen in several years.
If they have to pick #1, they have to take Bush.Last edited by HUbison; -03-27-2006 at 12:58 PM.

With the second pick in the 2006 NFL ClanRam Mod Draft, the New Orleans Saints select....

D'Brickashaw Ferguson, OT, Virginia
6'6" - 312 lbs. - Senior
Signing Drew Brees in free agency really changed this pick, as everyone had the Saints taking a quarterback at this slot. And it's because of the acquisition of Drew Brees that selecting D'Brick makes perfect sense. The Saints already took one book end tackle last year in Jammal Brown. Now they need one to protect Brees' blind side, because 35-year-old Wayne Gandy is not going to play much longer. The combination of Ferguson and Brown would give the Saints one of the best young tackle duos in the league, and would certainly go a long way to protecting their $60 million QB investment.

With the Third overall pick in the 2006 NFL ClanRam Mod Draft, the Tennessee Titans select....

Texas product Vincent Young, QB, 6'4" 230lbs
Young may have dropped out of many teams favor and off the so-called "experts" boards. But Young remains one of the best pure athletes in this years draft. Young comes highly recommended and endorsed by Steve McNair himself. The Titans won't let this winner slip by them. Having Young to mentor, will probably keep McNair around a couple more years and makes Young even more enticing for the Titans.Last edited by RamWraith; -03-27-2006 at 07:55 PM.

Re: *LIVE* ClanRam Moderator Mock Draft!
With the fourth overall pick in the 2006 ClanRam Mod draft, the New York Jets select...

Matt Leinart, Quarterback, USC
6'4" 223 lbs.
There have been rumors that the Jets would trade up with New Orleans to nab Matt Leinart, but they stand pat and it pays off. Don't be fooled by the moves they made recently at quarterback, re-structuring Chad Pennington's contract and bringing in Patrick Ramsey. Pennington's shoulder is a big question mark, and Ramsey has never proven himself as a starter. John Abraham's departure made me briefly consider Mario Williams here, but defensive-minded Eric Mangini will be able to find a suitable replacement later in this deep talent pool of defenders with the extra picks they acquired [3rd round compensatory pick & 29th overall from the Falcons].Last edited by evil disco man; -04-11-2006 at 10:52 PM.

With the 5th pick in the NFL ClanRam Draft, the Green Bay Packers select........
AJ Hawk...LB....Ohio State University

6'1, 248 lbs.
The Packers are stymied at QB with Aaron Rogers being selected last year to be the heir apparant to Brett Farve and this team needs help in several areas. AJ Hawk at LB is a great place for the Pack to start shoring up their defense.Last edited by txramsfan; -03-28-2006 at 10:06 AM.

Re: *LIVE* ClanRam Moderator Mock Draft!
With the 6th Pick of the ClanRam Mod Draft, San Francisco selects...
Mario Williams, DE, NC State

6'7, 295
While DE might not be the Niners most pressing need, Williams is far and away the top player remaining on the board. He is the best DE prospect since Julius Peppers, and his selection here sets up some potential titanic clashes against division-mates Orlando Pace and Walter Jones.

Re: *LIVE* ClanRam Moderator Mock Draft!
With the 7th pick in the draft, the Oakland Raiders select...

Jay Cutler, QB, Vanderbilt
6'4", 225, Senior
The Raiders could really use an upgrade just about anywhere on their defense. However, with Mario and Hawk off the board, the Raiders take their franchise QB. They have a solid receiver corp and a good receiving back, however they don't have a strong-armed QB to get them the ball. Brooks is a stop-gap, not a long-term answer.
They have plenty of needs, but Cutler is too good a prospect to pass up. His arm strength should help Porter and Moss stretch the field."Before the gates of excellence the high gods have placed sweat; long is the road thereto and rough and steep at first; but when the heights are reached, then there is ease, though grievously hard in the winning." --- Hesiod

Re: *LIVE* ClanRam Moderator Mock Draft!
With the eighth pick in the 2006 NFL ClanRam Mod Draft, the Buffalo Bills select....
Haloti Ngata, DT, Oregon
6'4" - 338 lbs - Junior
Maybe a strange pick given that reporters in Buffalo are saying Ngata won't be a good fit for the new defensive scheme, but don't believe everything you read. Ngata doesn't just have size working for him, but has good quickness and athleticism for the position, which is something the Bills would like to have. He can move well laterally down the line, changes direction well, and is much more than just a run stuffer.

Re: *LIVE* ClanRam Moderator Mock Draft!
With the ninth pick in the 2006 NFL ClanRam Mod Draft, the Detroit Lions select....

Winston Justice
6'6", 319lbs, USC
The Lions have so many holes to fill that this will be one of the toughest picks to call. I believe Martz will have a huge influence on this pick, hence the reason for going offense. The only way it is going to work for Martz's system is to find someone that can protect the QB's backside this season. I believe he will push the Lions into this selection and put Millen in a position that he must take Justice. I believe the smart play for the Lions is a defensive player like Huff, Greenway or Bunckley, but history shows us the Lions don't always make the smart play.

Re: *LIVE* ClanRam Moderator Mock Draft!
With the tenth pick in the NFL ClanRam Mod Draft, the Arizona Cardinals select...

Vernon Davis, Tight End, Maryland
6'3" 263 lbs.
The Cardinals led the NFL in passing offense last season but have a hole to fill at tight end. Having Edgerrin James, Anquan Boldin, Larry Fitzgerald, and now this physical specimen on the field at the same time will give Dennis Green plenty of versatility to work with.

With the 11th pick in the NFL ClanRam Mod mock draft....
The St. Louis Rams select....
Michael Huff......DB.....Texas

6'0 204
The guy runs a 4.35 40 and played S at UT. He can hit but his best skill is tackling in the open field. Tackling in the open field. Tackling in the open field. Why do I keep repeating that? Because for the last three years the Rams secondary couldn't tackle the Olsen twins in the open field. With Huff, now they can.Last edited by AvengerRam; -03-30-2006 at 10:00 AM.

Re: *LIVE* ClanRam Moderator Mock Draft!
With pick number 12 in the ClanRam Moderator Mock Draft, the Cleveland Browns select...
Brodrick Bunkley, DT, FSU

6'2 3/4, 305 lbs.
The Dawg Pound gets its big dog on defense. Though Bunkley is not a classic 3-4 NT, his strength and athleticism make him to good for the Browns to pass on. Will be a starter as a rookie and will make an impact.
Welcome to the St. Louis Rams!

Re: *LIVE* ClanRam Moderator Mock Draft!
With the 13th pick in the ClanRam Moderator Mock Draft, the Baltimore Ravens select....

Jimmy Williams CB/S, Va Tech
6'2", 213, Senior
The Ravens could have used some help on the D-line, but with Bunkley going a pick earlier and Hali a bit of a risk at this pick, they decide to solidify their secondary. Williams could compete with Rolle and McAllister for a corner spot, but will most likely find himself next to Ed Reed in the Ravens retro 46 defense."Before the gates of excellence the high gods have placed sweat; long is the road thereto and rough and steep at first; but when the heights are reached, then there is ease, though grievously hard in the winning." --- Hesiod

Re: *LIVE* ClanRam Moderator Mock Draft!
With the 14th pick in the ClanRam Moderator Mock Draft, the Philadelphia Eagles select....

Chad Jackson, WR, Florida
6'0" - 213 lbs - Junior
The Eagles parted ways with Terrell Owens, their one true legitimate receiver. They have some promising young depth and added guys like Jabar Gaffney, but I don't see a true #1 playmaker on that roster. I believe Jackson has separated himself as the best receiver in this class, and should be a good addition to the Philadelphia offense.
