Other then Gaines and Okoye IMO both Carriker and Ryan had better years then the other DL including Jamaal Anderson at #8. We did a good job IMO of helping address the interior DL last year through the draft.

Another thing to remember is that at least to start, Carriker was playing more of a nose tackle role, taking up blockers and stuffing the run, whereas Gaines Adams, was a 3 tech from the start and tasked with sacking the QB, a la Warren Sapp. I'm not sure Okoye was used, but considering that he was single teamed because teams had to worry about Mario Williams and no one had to worry about our defensive ends, I'd say that our two guys did darn well for themselves.

I'm excited for Clifton Ryan and Carriker in that interior. Compliment with a good pash rush on the ends and some more youth to rotate them in with...and we could have a stellar line. =]

THATS exactly right WOLF , and i was wishing it would have been C. LONG to put with those two and V.A. this would be a good young base for this defense . you throw in WITHERSPOON and ATAGWE and we have a very good middle of the road . we just need some pieces to insert to finish the crew .

All in all, I always felt good about the Carricker pick. Ryan was a great selection no matter how you slice the bread.

Branch had the worse year out of all of the DL.

IMO out of all the DL only Okoye and Gaines had a better year then Carriker or Ryan.

It's encouraging information, but it's also important to note that only Carriker and Anderson started all 16 games for their respective clubs. Okoye started 14 games, but the rest weren't starters for a majority of their team's games. Obviously being out there in the starting line-up is going to affect what kind of year a guy can have for his team.
