    Looking for feedback on QB's

I am looking for feedback from this esteemed board.

I have listed 15 QB that were drafted in the top 5 from 1980 to 2008 below. These QBs are just the ones that I believe range from decent to HOFer; no busts here.

NOTE: I left off the busts like Ryan Leaf, Akili Smith and Joey Harrington. My list is about half of all the QBs taken in the top 5 since 1980.

So I am looking for feedback on which of these QBs should not be considered high quality QB's capable of leading a team to the Super Bowl.

Please look it over and fire away. Thx.

    1982 5 Jim McMahon
    1983 1 John Elway
    1986 3 Jim Everett
    1987 1 Vinny Testaverde
    1989 1 Troy Aikman
    1993 1 Drew Bledsoe
    1995 3 Steve McNair
    1998 1 Peyton Manning
    1999 2 Donovan McNabb
    2001 1 Michael Vick
    2003 1 Carson Palmer
    2004 4 Philip Rivers
    2004 1 Eli Manning
    2006 3 Vince Young
    2008 3 Matt Ryan

Oh no you did'int.... You had to put Chis Everett on the list

Since Vick made it to the championship game I have to say he is capable. Not sure about Young but the rest look good to me.

    Go Rams

Young had a solid season this year. Are you looking for guys who are capable of carrying a QB to the Superbowl or capable of playing in the Superbowl? Because to play there doesn't take a heck of a lot. Big Ben was below average his first time and Trent Dilfer won a Superbowl. At that point in their careers, neither was much more than a QB who avoided making mistakes. (you didn't even include Dilfer in the list and he won a Superbowl!) Guys I'd add are Dilfer, Pennington, Culpepper (for a while in there), Roethlisberger and Steve Young.

    KEY WORDS TO ME

high quality QB's capable of leading a team to the Super Bowl.

Dilfer is not a high quality QB and did not lead his team to the Bowl the D did that.

So LEAD means carry? In the original post the OP says "decent", if you are a veteran who does exactly what the team requests of you, avoid mistakes and act as a leader, I'd call that a decent QB. Were Vick or Testaverde great?

Oh, and Dilfer had a QB rating 5 points less than Vick and Testaverde. 7 less than Bledsoe. Dilfer had 2,000 yards less than Bulger.

    QB rankings

    1. Steve Young 96.1
    drop 5 points
    6. Chad Pennington 90.59
    drop 5 points
    17. Jake Delhomme 85.14
    drop 5 more points
    44. Dan Fouts 80.23
    drop 5 points
    72. Mike Vick 75.75
    82. Viny Testevarde 75.00
    drop 5 points
    113. Trent Dilfer 70.18

Just 5 points less is a significant drop. Rank 82 to 113 not a small margin as you may have suggested.

Lead? I guess thats up to you or you need to ask the guy who ask the question.

I took it to mean a player that if things go wrong in the game that the team can look to that player to make the plays needed to win the game. I never felt Dilfer could win games his role on the team was not to lose games.

    Go Rams
