Lousy Rams draft news-Oregon QB to return to school

ESPN is reporting that the oregon qb is returning to school next year. I have no idea how high he would have gone, but one less qb in the draft is one less potential guy that could go before we use either of our two first round picks.

Actually as much as I'd like him in the NFL, I applaud him for finishing school. Pity a few other NFL players didn't put that much stock in an education--the NFL is a moment in time, an education lasts a life time

Matt Leinart and Matt Barkley agree with you. Let's just hope that extra year of education helps them recoup the millions they lost.

    hindsight's 20/20 lol

though for both of those guys, they had plenty of reasons to come back, leinart wanted the 3rd title in a row, and yea he didn't really need to go back, but he almost got it (ugh)

for barkley...well...he stated it when he announced he was returning, the way that year ended is the worst, worst case scenario i've ever seen

though for mariota....dunno why he'd go back, the way oregon is going i don't see how they'd be better next season and it does depend on what quarterbacks are leaving i guess...

    but eh...

I don't think that this is necessarily bad news for the Rams.

For example, let's say that the Rams have the second pick, and there are two QBs (i.e. Bridgewater and either Carr or Hundley) who are regarded as top 5 picks. In that scenario, it would be a good thing that a third elite QB (i.e. Mariota) is not in the draft, because if he was then that might make teams less likely to trade up to #2.

True. And we also don't really have to worry about Clowney declaring either.

the money of a 1st round draft pick could last a lifetime
players like Matt Barkley blundered by 'doing the right thing'

you can always finish your education, but you cant always count on be a 1st round draft pick. You can mess that up by having a bad upcoming year.

If the NFL doesn't pan out-- fin your schooling and on you can put on your resume-- 1st round pick NFL.

Also, imagine the perks of going back to school after the NFL..... if you're unmarried....

I agree with AV on this. It could be a seller's market with fewer QB's. I heard about Zac Mettenberger's ACL injury this AM. That will add to the pressure for QB needy teams. Regardless "Trader Les" will get it done for us if we choose to trade the pick.

    Go Rams!

Don't think it will effect the Rams first pick much, because, there were maybe five passers all capable of ending up in the top ten anyway. The injury to LSU's QB certainly hurts as well a bit.
