Mark Sanchez - QB - Free Agent

Mark Sanchez - QB - Free Agent

    Jets released QB Mark Sanchez.
The Jets attempted to trade Sanchez for a late-round pick and considered keeping him on a revised deal, but this was the expected move all along. By releasing Sanchez, the Jets create $8.3 million in cap savings and avoid paying his $2 million roster bonus. The Texans are expected to show interest in Sanchez as a veteran stopgap, but he's likely ticketed for a backup job coming off two turnover-prone seasons. Sanchez is five months removed from shoulder surgery and expected to be ready for training camp.

Re: Mark Sanchez - QB - Free Agent

I wouldnt be surprised if the Rams show interest...But would be shocked if they signed him cuz quite frankly the rams have been reluctant to put ink to paper for any Free Agents that were not on our squad last year

However I would not oppose us signing him...Living in Jersey really makes you see just how NY fans are...One week Geno SMith is the man the next week he is the new Mark Sanchez and the week after that matt SIms is peyton manning its ridiculous....

Sanchez is a guy that threw for 26 TDs under Shotty in a season with similar weapons that we have now...I wouldnt mind Sanchez (non guarantee contract) a rookie and Austin Davis battle for our QB depth behind Bradford this pre season.

Someone will pick him up, I just hope it isn't the Rams. Sanchez went from mediocre, to spotty, to bad. Many of his teammates never respected him either, and he was characterized as a coddled underachiever, who was a negative locker room presence.

He and Shotty had a good relationship, so if things don't pan out with Hill, who knows.

I think we could do worse for a backup QB. He knows schotty and his offense that's a plus.

You U$C fans are really reaching to prop this guy up. Let's face it, he's a disaster. 68 TD's, 69 INT's, 26 fumbles, and a 71.1 rating sum up his NFL career.

I'd be happy to have a playoff veteran with experience in Schottenheimer's system as Bradford's insurance policy. IMO we could (and have) done a heck of a lot worse.

He's an upgrade to Kellen Clemens and already knows the offense as well as Bradford, if not better. Couple that with the fact that he also has taken two teams to the playoffs and you realize that he's about as perfect a fit as there is in the league, provided the money is right.

Having said that however, I still expect the Rams to draft a developmental Qb in the mid to late rounds.

My dad played for USC back in the 1930's (He played DT at a whopping 225 lbs. No, he wasn't famous, but it did lead to him getting a job in showbiz); conversely, my mom attended UCLA. Every year we attended USC vs UCLA football games, and I always rooted for USC. Was I a big USC fan at the time? No - but I knew what was in store for me if UCLA won. My mom - bless her soul, never knew when to shut up - whereas my dad was a man of few words. In those days, (fifties and sixties), it seemed like USC won more often (Thankfully!). I could be wrong, but that's my recollection. On the occasions UCLA did win, it was not a pleasant ride home. By the time we finally reached West LA, my father was ready to choke someone, thus I quickly learned the value of being seen but not heard, and the less seen, so much the better.

I still root for USC Mike, in memory of my dad I guess ..

For the right price he is a perfect backup QB. Relatively young, played and understands this offense, been deep in the playoffs with them. Just a few years ago Sanchez was viewed as one of the best young QB's in the league.

I'd like to add Mark as Sam's backup.

I am amazed at the hold up as soon as he hit the pavement I expected to hear he was on his flight to St. WHooo-wie! He is the perfect back up for this team, as so many of you guys said. Better than any we have had since Kurt or Trent were backups here. Thank You oh lord we don't have to watch KC again in a Rams Uni... I hope! And as was alluded to by a couple you guys we still need to draft a prospect to groom. Mark has been hurt a few times as well, so we will need at least 3 QB's!
