Matthew Mulligan - TE - Free Agent

Matthew Mulligan - TE - Free Agent

    Rams released TE Matthew Mulligan.
28-year-old Mulligan was due just $725,000, so the Rams really must not have liked his potential. He's a strong run blocker, but offers little else.

Mulligan's release saves the Rams a modest $725,000 in salary cap space; gives Mike McNeill and Corey Harkey better chance to make '13 squad

I'd just say that 700K is just too much for a 3rd TE. It also opens the door for Eifert at #22!!! Just kidding. I assume the cap implications are positive or else we'd have kept him. Personally,I think Mulligan's mirror image skills-wise from Cook made him a good 3rd TE.
    I believe!

I don't know if this was the right move or not, but I'm willing to give the Front Office a Mulligan on this one.

    Yeah.

    I went there.

    Deal with it!

What would you guys think about taking Michael Williams in the 6th or 7th round as a blocking TE. That is if he makes it that far. He is 6'6 280 and is like another OL. He could help in the run game and can catch a few passes.

I could see them lineup with this formation:
    RB- Pead 5'10 200 4.41 40 or Richardson 5'11 200 4.38 40
    WR1- Givens 5'11 200 4.35 40 or Quick 6'4 220
    WR2- Cook 6'5 250 4.49 40
    TE- Kendricks 6'3 250 4.5 40

    TE- Williams 6'6 280
    LT-Long 6'7 320
    LG-Rok 6'4 340
    C-Wells 6'2 300
    RG-Dahl 6'5 305
    RT-Saffold 6'5 325

Imagine the options. The protection would be great with two good blocking TEs and Cook blocking a WR. Among the many options you could have Givens going deep or Pead running behind a wall of blockers.

Throw in Warmack or Cooper and you got yourself a deal

Called this after we signed Cook. He was a completely useless contract.

Id have no problem taking Williams, been wanting him for a while now.
