We won 7 games last year with the offensive firepower we currently have

By the skin of our teeth we won those 7. And we have a tougher schedule and weakened defense to show for it. This team has to become capable of regularly scoring 24 points or more per game.

So, with Atogwe gone, but the draft and FA yet to come, you're already labeling the defense "weakened"?

You're really a "cracked dirty glass not even remotely full" kidn of guy, aren't you?

Unless we're planning on getting a brand new secondary that unit is going to be a definite liability this season.

It's only the safeties that are an issue, I think we are fine at corner

    Per Rotoworld, Post Dispatch

Rams GM Billy Devaney says he has no intentions of trading the No. 14 overall pick in the draft.
There have been rumors Devaney may trade up for Julio Jones. "Chances are, we're going to stay right at 14, and we'll be fine," Devaney said. "... It's probably not worth our while to give up picks to make a move to go get a particular guy." The Rams are in a "sweet spot" in the draft, picking directly ahead of two teams with distinct quarterback needs: Miami and Jacksonville.

Replacing a safety with the same corners is a brand new secondary? Since when? Also, since when is a change of players an automatic liability? Under that theory, teams constantly get worse because very time they change a roster position they get worse.

I know your point is "We won't find a player as good as Atogwe" but then again, maybe we will. You always assume the worst and pass judgment before you even see what happens.

Our secondary last season consisted of Atogwe, Bartell, and the crispy remnants of whoever was getting torched by opposing wideouts on a given week. Barring some fairly massive replacement, this unit's going to continue to be doing its best Hindenburg impression on a weekly basis. Hence the need to put up points of our own.
