This might sound crazy but would you ever do this?
Jared Allen has comparable figures over his last three years to Leonard Little and those happen to be his first three years in the league. He just turned 25 this month and should have many years of football left.
STATS Last three years:
Jarred Allen
47 games
163 tackles
27.5 sacks
10 forced fumbles
15 passes defensed
1 INT
Leonard Little
46 games
160 tackles
29.5 sacks
12 forced fumbles
7 passes defensed
0 INT
Okay so here is the deal:
Try signing Jared Allen of KC. It would cost you a 1st and a 3rd. Because he is a restricted Free Agent tendered at the higher level. Trade our 2nd round pick for Jenkins.
That would give us a DL with three protential Pro Bowlers:
DE Little
DT Jenkins
DT Kennedy
DE Allen (77 tackles last year Little had his most ever last year at 58)
Our backups would not be to shabby either unless we tried to trade them for another area of need.
Our backups would be:
DE Hall
DT Glover
DT Wrotten
DE Adeyanju
Adeyanju could then have time to try to develop into Littles replacement. Allen could be around for a long time. Wrotten could try to grow into replacing Jenkins or Replace Kennedy if we decide to let him walk. Hall and Glover both would provide quality ready to step in veterans in case of injury.
Re: This might sound crazy but would you ever do this?
Given Allen's DUI history, I don't think I want to deal with the "drunken DEs" jokes from the opposition.
The "J.A." I want is Jamaal Anderson.
Re: This might sound crazy but would you ever do this?
Then our highest pick would be a 4th rounder. I'll pass, but that was a good stat.
Re: This might sound crazy but would you ever do this?
very interesting , but i agree with the drunken thing here. not what the other side would say, but what WILL happen when this happens again. and it will with both of the ends . they are repeaters , and with alcoholics , trouble is the last thing they worry about .
Re: This might sound crazy but would you ever do this?
Little and Allen might die in a fatal head on collision in the Rams park parking lot.
